This document is an owner's manual for the LG Portable Bluetooth Speaker, model P5.
Function Description
The LG Portable Bluetooth Speaker (P5) is designed for wireless audio playback and offers several features to enhance the listening experience. Its primary function is to play music stored on Bluetooth-enabled devices such as smartphones and notebooks. It also supports wired audio input via an AUX (Portable In) port for connecting external devices.
A key feature is Dual Mode Connection, which allows users to enjoy stereo sound by connecting two P5 speakers. For an even more expansive audio experience, Multi Mode enables the connection of multiple speakers, controlled via the "LG XBOOM" app (Android only).
The speaker includes Mood Light functionality, offering various lighting options (Party, Water, Forest, My Style, Off) that can synchronize with the music. Sound Effect options, including STANDARD and SOUND BOOST, allow users to customize the audio output. The STANDARD mode provides high-fidelity, balanced, and natural sound, while SOUND BOOST delivers powerful sound. Custom EQ settings are also available through the "LG XBOOM" app.
The device supports Multi Phone Pairing, allowing up to two Bluetooth devices to be connected simultaneously, though only one can play music at a time. The speaker also features an Auto Power Off function to save energy, turning off after 15 minutes of no music playback in Bluetooth mode or 6 hours of no button operation in AUX mode.
Basic operations include power on/off, volume control, play/pause, forward/backward skip, and mood light/sound effect adjustments. The speaker can be reset using a thin pin if a malfunction occurs. Beep sounds for operations can be toggled on/off via the "LG XBOOM" app.

Usage Features
- Charging: The speaker has a built-in battery charged via a USB (C type) port. A Battery LED indicates charging status (red for charging, green for fully charged). It's recommended to use the supplied USB cable and a 5V AC adapter (more than 2A) approved by LG Electronics Inc.
- Battery Status Check: When powered on, pressing the power button for 2 seconds displays the battery status via the Battery LED (Green for ≥ 70%, Amber for ≥ 10%, Red blinking for ≤ 10%). Battery status can also be checked via the "LG XBOOM" app (Android only).
- Bluetooth Connection: The Bluetooth LED blinks when searching for a device and turns solid white with sound when connected. The unit appears as "LG-P5 (XX)" in device lists. Bluetooth initialization can be performed by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 7 seconds.
- AUX Mode: Automatically activated when a 3.5 mm stereo cable is connected. In AUX mode, Bluetooth connection is limited to prevent unintended connections.
- "LG XBOOM" App: An Android-only application that provides additional control and features, including Multi Mode, Custom EQ, and beep sound settings. The app can be installed via QR code or Google Android Market.
- Dual Mode Specifics: Limited to P5 and P7 series models. When two speakers are connected in Dual Mode, one acts as the main speaker (left channel, Dual Mode LED and Bluetooth LED on) and the other as the secondary speaker (right channel, Dual Mode LED on, Bluetooth LED off). Multi phone pairing is not supported in Dual Mode.
- Multi Mode Specifics: Requires the "LG XBOOM" app. Disables Dual Mode when activated.
- Controls: Playback and volume can be controlled directly from the unit or the connected Bluetooth device.
Maintenance Features
- Water-proof (IPX5): While water-resistant, it's crucial to avoid submerging the unit, exposing it to water during charging, or allowing water into the ports. After exposure to water, ports should be thoroughly dried before use. The port cover must be securely closed.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. For very dirty surfaces, a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution can be used. Avoid strong solvents like alcohol, benzine, or thinner, as they can damage the surface.
- Shipping: Retain the original shipping carton and packing materials for maximum protection if the unit needs to be shipped.
- General Care: Avoid using volatile liquids (e.g., insecticide spray) near the unit. Do not apply strong pressure when wiping surfaces. Prevent rubber or plastic products from prolonged contact with the unit.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section for common issues like no power, no sound, or Bluetooth pairing problems, offering solutions such as recharging, adjusting volume, re-pairing, or performing a reset.
