Installation and Commissioning

  • Qualified Installation: The appliance must be installed, commissioned, and serviced by a qualified person in accordance with national and local regulations.
  • Earthing: The appliance must be earthed. If replacing the plug, connect terminals as follows: Green and Yellow wire to Earth (E), Blue wire to Neutral (N), and Brown wire to Live (L).
  • Isolation: Means of isolation with at least 3mm contact separation in all poles must be incorporated into the fixed wiring.
  • Wiring Protection: Fixed wiring insulation must be protected by insulated sleeving with a temperature rating of at least 60°C.
  • Supply Cords: Supply cords must be oil-resistant, sheathed flexible cable not lighter than ordinary polychloroprene or equivalent elastomer sheathed cord (code 60245 IEC 57).
  • Hose Sets: Do not re-use old hose sets; use only the hose set supplied with the appliance.
  • Wall Mounting: The boiler must be installed on a vertical concrete/brick wall with its base in a horizontal position. The location must be frost-free.
  • Mounting Procedure: Use the provided wall bracket to mark mounting hole positions. The top of the bracket should be 10mm below the height of the fitted unit lid. Drill holes and insert suitable wall plugs. Hang the unit, mark the lower fixing screw position, remove the boiler, drill, and insert a wall plug.
  • Clearance: Allow 200mm clear space above the unit for cover removal and 300mm below for filter removal.
  • Electrical Connection: The MF wall mount series are supplied with a 13 amp plug to BS1363. Ensure the plug/socket is accessible at all times.
  • Water Installation: Connect the supplied white water inlet hose to the inlet connection point on the boiler's base and the other end to the mains supply via an accessible isolating tap with a ½" BSP thread.
  • Condensate/Overflow: Connect the condensate/overflow pipe to a suitable drain, adhering to local water regulations. A Tundish is advisable for waste connection to the condensate overflow pipe.
  • Water Quality: If solid particles are known to be in the water supply, an extra inline filter or strainer should be added.
  • Leak Check: Turn on the water supply and check for leaks after installation.

First Use and Regular Operation

  • Initial Setup: Strip plastic coating and clean the appliance before use.
  • Filling and Heating: Switch on both mains water and electricity supplies. The boiler will fill completely and then begin heating. The unit will display "WAIT" during this process and "READY" when the set temperature is reached.
  • Filter Priming: New filters may contain loose carbon particles. Drain off approximately 3 litres of water when first setting up or replacing the filter.
  • Continuous Operation: The appliance is designed to be left on permanently to ensure a constant supply of hot water. Small quantities of water are added constantly during the heating cycle.
  • Qualified Personnel: Only qualified or trained personnel should use this appliance.

  • Genuine Filters: Use of genuine Lincat filters is recommended.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning

  • General Cleaning: Do not use a water jet or steam cleaner, and do not immerse the appliance. Clean all panels with warm water and mild detergent, avoiding abrasive materials. Dry with a soft cloth.
  • Dispensing Nozzle: Wipe the dispensing nozzle daily to remove limescale deposits.

Descaling

  • Regular Descaling: The boiler should be descaled regularly to maintain efficient operation and water quality. The frequency depends on water hardness and timely filter replacement.
  • Warranty Exclusion: Service calls resulting from limescale are not covered by warranty.
  • Qualified Personnel: The descaling procedure must be performed by trained personnel as it requires the removal of panels, providing access to live electrical components.
  • Recommended Agent: Lincat recommends their own descaling agent DP10, available from their Spares department.
  • Descaling Procedure:
    • Wear protective clothing.
    • Isolate the boiler from the electrical supply.
    • Turn off the power and allow the water to cool to 60°C.
    • Remove the water boiler top cover.
    • Remove the insulation from the top of the tank, then unscrew and remove the tank lid.
    • Add the descaling agent slowly to avoid water eruption, following the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Replace the tank lid and outer lid cover. Attach an "Out of Use" notice to prevent use during descaling.
    • Turn on electricity and allow the boiler to run normally for 30 minutes.
    • Isolate the boiler and allow the water to cool.
    • Remove the boiler lid cover and tank lid and inspect the tank and level sensor housings for scale deposits. Repeat if necessary.
    • In hard water areas, manual descaling may be required. Remove as much scale as possible by hand, focusing on level sensors and the element.
    • Drain and flush all descaling agent from the tank completely using the drain valve (Fig 2 G).
  • Overflow Risk: Failure to descale the unit may result in the boiler overfilling and leaking from the overflow.
