What to do if the Lincoln Electric Cobramatic K2259-1 has no wire feed at the gun but the feeder is operating properly?
    • A
      Anna ScottAug 17, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Welding System's feeder is operating properly but there's no wire feed at the gun, the issue could stem from several causes. First, the potentiometer may be faulty, so check it with a meter. Second, examine the gun motor, and replace it if necessary. Third, a broken electrical cable could be the culprit, so check the motor and potentiometer wires for continuity. Finally, the speed control/PCB might be bad, so check and replace the P.C. board if needed.

What to do if Lincoln Electric Welding System wire feeds, but welding wire is not energized?
    • D
      dperryAug 20, 2025
If the welding wire isn't energized, start by checking all power connections to ensure they are secure. Consult the power supply owner’s manual to verify the correct location and type of contactor signal required. Finally, check the power supply itself to ensure it's working correctly.

What to do if the Lincoln Electric Welding System has no wire feed at the gun and the feeder is not operating?
    • P
      Patricia BradleyAug 23, 2025
If there is no wire feed at the gun and the feeder isn't operating, start by checking the F1 and F2 fuses in the feeder and replace them if they have failed, and check the AC circuit. Also, check the F3 (4 amp) fuse in the feeder; if it has failed, check the motor leads for shorts before replacing the fuse. Inspect the micro-switch to ensure it is being activated; replace it if defective and check the micro switch wires for continuity. Finally, check the J2 and J3 connectors to ensure they are not loose.

Why does the Lincoln Electric Cobramatic K2259-1 Welding System wire feed erratically?
    • S
      Stephanie ScottAug 26, 2025
Erratic wire feed in your Lincoln Electric Welding System can be caused by several factors. The conduit may be dirty or worn, so blow it out or replace it. The pressure on the drive rolls might be incorrect, so adjust the pressure at the gun (Gold or Prince). Also, the idler roll could be stuck in the gun; check for a lock washer under the idler roll, and replace if damaged or worn. Finally, the contact tip might be the wrong size; refer to the contact tip table to ensure you have the correct one.

What to do if Lincoln Electric Welding System has no PosaStart Wire Speed Transition?
    • M
      michaelhillAug 28, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Welding System lacks PosaStart Wire Speed Transition, ensure the welding power cable is connected to the bottom bolt on the power block and the gun power cable is connected to the top bolt. Also, check the current sensor in the power block to ensure welding current is being sensed.

Why does the Lincoln Electric Cobramatic K2259-1 wire feed at one speed only?
    • D
      david76Aug 31, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Welding System feeds wire at only one speed, the potentiometer might be bad; check it with a meter. Alternatively, there could be a broken electrical cable in the lead assembly; check the potentiometer wires for continuity or shorts. Lastly, the speed control may be faulty; check and replace the P.C. boards if necessary.

What causes the Lincoln Electric Welding System wire to walk out of drive rolls?
    • D
      Debra EdwardsSep 2, 2025
If the wire walks out of the drive rolls, the idler roll may be upside-down; place the groove in the idler roll toward the top. Also, the rear wire guide might be missing; replace the wire guide.
