Overview

The Little Giant 2E-NDVR is a pump designed for in-line use, manufactured by Franklin Electric Co., Inc. It is engineered for long and reliable service, having undergone careful testing, inspection, and packaging to ensure safe delivery and operation. This pump is primarily intended for circulating weak acids, mild chemicals, cleaning solvents, antifreeze, and potable fluids, provided these liquids are compatible with the pump's component materials. Its construction allows for submerged operation when pumping water or machine oils, but for weak acids, it must be used in-line and not submerged. A key operational requirement is that the pump is not self-priming; therefore, it must be installed such that the pump head (volute) is flooded at startup. This means the pump's inlet must be positioned below the level of the liquid surface being pumped.

The pump's robust construction features an aluminum diecast housing, an aluminum seal plate, a nylon impeller and volute, a stainless steel backplate, and a Viton® gasket. It employs a two-seal design with double-lip radial seals. One seal is mounted in the aluminum pump housing, and the other is in the aluminum seal plate. The exposed motor shaft is made of stainless steel. The discharge port is threaded 1/4" MNPT, and the intake port is threaded 3/8" FNPT. An adapter is included for the intake to accommodate 1/2" ID tubing, enhancing its versatility for various plumbing setups.

For safe operation, it is crucial to adhere to all local electrical and safety codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). The pump should always be connected to a three-prong grounded outlet equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) device for maximum safety. It is strictly prohibited to use this pump for flammable or explosive fluids such as gasoline, fuel oil, or kerosene. Users must avoid handling the pump or its motor with wet hands, or while standing on a wet, damp, or submerged surface. Changing fuses or inserting fingers into fuse sockets while in water is also strictly forbidden, as failure to comply with these warnings can result in fatal electrical shock.

Before attempting to install, operate, or service the pump, users must thoroughly read and understand the provided instructions. Familiarity with the pump's application, limitations, and potential hazards is essential. Protecting oneself and others by observing all safety information is paramount, as non-compliance can lead to personal injury and/or property damage.

Maintenance of the Little Giant 2E-NDVR involves several steps if the pump fails to operate properly. First, the pump should be disconnected from electrical service by unplugging the power cord, removing the fuse, or turning off the disconnect box. If the pump does not operate, it should be removed from water and tested at another electrical outlet to confirm power supply. If it still does not start, the screen should be removed from the pump, followed by the three indicated screws (item #5 in Figure 2) to remove the volute. No other screws should be removed. Any corrosion or debris clogging the impeller should be lightly cleaned using a brush and penetrating oil, with encrusted material carefully scraped away. After cleaning, the impeller should be turned by hand to ensure free rotation. The unit can then be plugged in to check if the impeller turns. If the pump operates properly, the parts should be reassembled in reverse order, and the unit tested in water. If the pump still fails to operate, the user should contact their dealer or service person.

It is critical not to open the sealed portion of the unit or remove any screws other than those specified for maintenance. Additionally, the electric cord should not be cut short when removing the unit from its application. The pump must be disconnected from its regular connections. Failure to follow these guidelines may void the warranty.

The Little Giant product comes with a warranty against defective materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase by the user. However, specific models (1-AA-OM, GKPK-SC, PP-1, PPS-1, PP-12, PPS-12, PP-230, and Cooler King) have a 90-day warranty. The warranty does not cover brush wear in Model 35-OM or impeller/cam wear in Models PP-1, PP-12, and PP-230. Any product failing within the warranty period due to covered reasons will be repaired or replaced if returned prepaid to the factory. All returned defective products undergo a full inspection to determine the "CAUSE OF FAILURE" before warranty approval. The warranty will be honored upon satisfactory written proof of purchase.

The warranty explicitly states that any oral statements made by the seller, manufacturer, or representatives do not constitute warranties and should not be relied upon by the user. The manufacturer's and seller's sole obligation, and the buyer's only remedy, is the replacement and/or repair of the product. Neither the seller nor the manufacturer is liable for any direct, incidental, or consequential injury, loss, or damage, including lost profits, lost sales, personal injury, property damage, or any other incidental or consequential loss arising from the use or inability to use the product. The user agrees that no other remedy is available. Before use, the user must determine the product's suitability for its intended application and assumes all risk of liability.

This limited warranty is exclusive and in lieu of any other expressed or implied warranties, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Some states may not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to all users. The warranty provides specific legal rights, and other rights may vary by state.

The warranty will be voided under several conditions: if the sealed motor housing is opened, if the product is connected to a voltage other than indicated on the nameplate, if the cord is cut to a length less than three feet, if the pump is allowed to operate dry (fluid supply cut off), if the pump is used to circulate anything other than fresh water, light oils, or other mild liquids at approximately room temperature, or if there is evidence of product abuse by the customer. The National Electric Code mandates a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for fountain equipment rated above 15 volts, and Little Giant recommends using a GFCI with each pump.
