Overview

This document provides the user manual for the LIVOO Electric Cordless Kettle, model DOD184. It outlines essential safety advice, instructions for using the appliance, and guidelines for cleaning and maintenance, ensuring safe and optimal operation.

Function Description

The LIVOO Electric Cordless Kettle is designed for heating water quickly and efficiently for household use. It operates as a cordless unit, meaning the jug can be lifted from its base for easy pouring without being tethered by a cord. The kettle is intended for boiling fresh, cold water for various purposes, such as preparing hot beverages or for cooking. It features an automatic shut-off mechanism that activates once the water has boiled, enhancing safety and preventing dry boiling. The appliance is equipped with a water level indicator, allowing users to monitor the amount of water inside and avoid overfilling or underfilling. Its design emphasizes ease of use, with a simple switch to initiate the boiling process and a control lamp to indicate when the water is being heated. The kettle is specifically designed for domestic and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast environments. It is not intended for continuous professional use and requires temporary stops between operations.

Usage Features

Before the first use, it is recommended to fill the kettle with cold water and boil it twice without any additives, then discard the water to ensure cleanliness. To use the kettle, first, fill it with cold water, ensuring the water level is between the MAX and MIN marks indicated on the water level indicator. Overfilling can lead to boiling water being ejected, posing a scalding risk. Conversely, operating the kettle without sufficient water can activate the safety cut-out, requiring a waiting period before reuse. Once filled, place the kettle securely on its base and plug the base into a wall outlet. Switch the kettle to the "on" position, typically marked '1'. A control lamp will illuminate, indicating that the water is being boiled. The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has reached boiling point. After boiling, it is crucial to disconnect the kettle from the supply socket. When pouring, do not open the lid to prevent scalding from steam or hot water. If the kettle has switched off automatically, there might be a short delay, usually no more than 20 seconds, before it can be re-boiled. The safety cut-out feature will activate if the kettle is accidentally switched on when empty or allowed to boil dry. In such cases, wait 15 minutes after the cut-out before attempting to reuse the kettle. Always ensure the lid is tightly closed during operation to prevent steam from escaping and to direct it away from the handle. The appliance should always be placed on a stable, flat surface, and the power cord should be fully unwound to prevent overheating. It is important to handle the jug with care due to the high temperature of the prepared water to avoid scalding. The kettle is designed to be used only with the stand provided.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the optimal performance and longevity of the LIVOO Electric Cordless Kettle. Before any cleaning, ensure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and has completely cooled down. For cleaning the exterior surfaces, gently wipe them with a soft, damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Abrasive products should never be used as they can damage the surface. To clean the inner walls of the kettle, a soft, damp cloth or a soft brush can be used to remove any residues. It is crucial never to immerse the jug kettle or its base in water, as this can cause electric shock and damage the appliance. The filter, located inside the kettle, should also be cleaned regularly. To do this, open the lid, pull the filter out from the interior body, rinse it under running water, and dry it thoroughly. The filter is not dishwasher safe.

Descaling the appliance regularly is vital to maintain optimum performance and prevent malfunctions, especially if you notice increased noise during boiling or if the kettle switches off before the water is fully boiled. The frequency of descaling depends on the water hardness and how often the kettle is used. For soft water, descaling should be done at least once every six months, while for hard water, it should be done at least once every three months. It is highly recommended to use only descaling agents suitable for plastic kettles. Always read and follow the instructions provided with the descaling agent carefully. After the descaling process, thoroughly rinse the inside of the kettle with cold water to remove any descaling agent residues. Ensure the appliance is unplugged before inserting, removing, or cleaning any parts. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use, so allow it to cool before touching. Keeping the appliance clean at all times is particularly important as it comes into direct contact with food.
