A rugged, accurate and economical 18” slab saw. Its design has been
proven by years of trouble free service in commercial operations. An
adjustable rate screw-feed and a large capacity vise allow the LS18 to
cut material up to 7” thick. Oil coolant required.

Saw Setup and Initial Checks

Verify Package Contents and Inspect for Damage

Positioning the Saw on a Level Surface

Place the saw on a sturdy, flat, and level surface for stable operation.

Leveling and Filling the Gear Box

Install leveling bolts in each saw leg and adjust until the saw is level.

Remove the top plug, add entire contents of oil, and replace the plug.

Verify switches are OFF and hood is closed before plugging into a grounded outlet.

Coolant Requirements and Type

Use LORTONE Cutting Oil or a neutral petroleum base oil with high flash point.

Set Correct Coolant Level

Add approximately 3 gallons of coolant to cover the bottom 1/2"-3/4" of the blade.

Blade Care and Dressing

Perform Initial Blade Dressing

Dress the blade prior to initial use by cutting through a dressing stick.

Maintain Blade with Frequent Dressing

Dress blades frequently to prevent dulling, glazing, dishing, or warping.

Saw Operation Procedures

Select Appropriate Feed Rate

Choose feed rate based on material and blade; too fast can cause damage.

Securely Clamp Material in Vise

Clamp material firmly, adjust cross feed, and ensure clearance for arbor shaft.

Safely Start and Monitor Saw

Close hood, turn power ON, and listen for operational changes or overheating.

Procedure for Ending a Cut

Turn power OFF, remove slab, inspect material, and advance carriage.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Periodic Saw Cleaning Process

Drain oil, wipe sludge from case and feed screw, then add clean oil.

Lubricating Bearing Housing

Bearings are pre-greased; grease through housing hole if saw is heavily used.

Blade Replacement Guide

Blade Specifications and Removal

Use an 18" blade with 3/4" arbor hole; remove arbor nut, flange, and blade.

Install New Blade and Adjustments

Clean flanges, install new blade carefully, tighten securely, and adjust slab catcher.
