1.49 Engine Performance
The engine performance is nominally expected to be as shown in the following graph. This performance is corrected
against the EEC 88/195 regulations on engine performance.

1.50 Running the Engine – Sprint Races (upto 1hr race distance)
Do not run the engine under load if:
1. oil temperature is below 70°C
2. oil temperature is above 140°C
3. water temperature is below 65°C
4. water temperature is above 105°C
5. ambient air temperature is below 0°C
6. there are any low oil pressure events.
Maximum engine revs:- 7,250rpm
It is important to log the number of kilometers and hours the engine has run. This information is also stored within the
ECU and will be used to corroborate the service intervals and usage whilst in service.
The engine should run for no more than 8000km before being returned to the factory for a service. Upon return to the
factory, a complete strip will be undertaken. The customer will then be quoted on the work to service and dyno.
1.51 Engine Limiter
Lotus does not recommend running the engine on the limiter. All gearshifts should be performed prior to entering the
soft limiter. If geared too short for selected circuits, vehicle speed and therefore engine speed should be reduce to
below the limiter.
Before the next event the gearing should be adjusted for the circuit.
Lotus Motorsport consider the gearing suitable for the ‘average’ circuit when run on the 675mm rear tyre as fitted.
