This document describes the MLMP170H51 Petrol Lawnmower, a 167cc device manufactured by Kingfisher International Products Limited.
Function Description
The MLMP170H51 petrol lawnmower is designed for mowing grass in domestic gardens. It has a power output of 3.1 kW and is intended for private domestic use only. It is not suitable for mowing unusually high, dry, or wet grass, pasture grass, or for shredding leaves or mulching. The lawnmower features a self-propelled function, where the rear wheels are automatically driven by the engine, eliminating the need to manually push the product. It can be used for grass collection, mulching, and side discharge.

Usage Features
The lawnmower is equipped with several features to enhance usability and safety:
- Handle Adjustment: The handle can be adjusted to a suitable height for the user. It can also be folded for storage, ensuring wires are not trapped.
- Recoil Starter: The engine is started by pulling the brake bar towards the handle and then sharply pulling the recoil starter handle until the engine starts. The recoil starter handle (24) is positioned at the rear of the engine and fitted into a rope guide (23) on the right-hand side of the upper handle (4) during operation.
- Brake Bar: The brake bar (2) is used to stop the engine and blade. Releasing it automatically stops the engine and blade within a few seconds.
- Drive Bar: The drive bar (3) engages the self-propelled function, driving the rear wheels. Releasing it disengages the wheels.
- Cutting Height Adjustment: The cutting height can be adjusted to 7 levels, from 25 mm to 75 mm, by pulling the lever (18) towards the wheel (14) and moving it forward or backward.
- Grass Catcher: A 60 L grass catcher (22) is provided for collecting grass clippings. It features a hatch (22b) that indicates when it is full and needs to be emptied.
- Mulching Insert: For mulching, the mulching insert (32) is inserted into the rear discharge chute (30). This feature cuts grass clippings finely and distributes them evenly back onto the lawn as nutrients.
- Side Discharge Attachment: For side discharging, the side discharge attachment (33) is hung on the rods, allowing grass clippings to be spread across the ground.
- Fuel and Engine Oil: The product requires #95 unleaded petrol and 4-stroke engine oil (e.g., SAE10W-30). It is crucial to fill both separately before operation, as the product is not supplied with fuel or oil. The oil level should be checked frequently using the dipstick on the oil tank cap (17).
- Safety Interlocks: The lawnmower incorporates safety interlocks and operator presence controls that must be functioning properly. The engine should only be started from behind the lever, not beside the deck.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is essential for safe operation and prolonging the product's life:
- Cleaning: The product should be cleaned after each use, removing debris from the underbody, cutting device, and air vents (11) with a damp cloth and mild soap. Stubborn dirt can be removed with high-pressure air (max. 3 bar). Chemical, alkaline, abrasive, or aggressive detergents should not be used.
- Cutting Device: The cutting device (blade) (28) should be inspected for wear and damage before each use. It must be replaced after 50 hours of mowing or 2 years, whichever comes sooner, or immediately if cracked or damaged. The blade (DAYE 263001330) should be replaced with original spare parts. Lubricating the cutting device after each use with light machine oil is recommended.
- Nuts, Bolts, and Screws: All fasteners should be kept tight to ensure safe working condition.
- Wires: The performance of the drive (5) and brake (6) wires should be checked before each use and adjusted by a qualified specialist if necessary.
- Engine Maintenance: Refer to the separate HONDA operator's manual (34) for detailed maintenance of engine components such as the air filter, spark plug, fuel system, carburettor, muffler, and valve play.
- Fuel Storage: The fuel tank should be emptied if the product is stored for more than 30 days or for winter storage, as petrol deteriorates over time.
- Storage: Store the product and its accessories in a dry, frost-free place, inaccessible to children, ideally between 10 °C and 30 °C. Covering the product with a suitable cloth or enclosure is recommended.
- Transportation: Before transport, switch off the engine, disconnect the spark plug connector, adjust the cutting height to the highest position, and attach transportation guards. Transport the product by its handles (1, 1a) and protect it from heavy impact or strong vibrations.
Safety Warnings
The manual emphasizes several safety warnings, including:
- Always read instructions carefully and be familiar with controls.
- Never allow children or untrained individuals to operate the product.
- Wear substantial footwear and long trousers; do not operate barefoot or in open sandals.
- Inspect the area for objects that could be thrown by the product.
- Petrol is highly flammable; refuel outdoors, do not smoke, and avoid spilling fuel on hot engine parts.
- Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug connector before clearing blockages, checking, cleaning, or working on the product, or after striking a foreign object.
- Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts and discharge openings.
- Do not operate in confined spaces due to carbon monoxide fumes.
- Avoid operating in wet grass or on excessively steep slopes.
- Do not tamper with safety systems or engine settings.
- Allow the engine to cool before storing.
- Never use water to extinguish a product on fire; use special extinguishing agents.
- Be aware of residual risks such as vibration-induced health defects, injuries from thrown objects, and burns from hot surfaces.
- Individuals with medical implants should consult their doctor before operating due to electromagnetic fields.
