Why is my Makita Chainsaw engine hard to start?
- MMark AyalaAug 16, 2025
If your Makita Chainsaw engine doesn't start easily, begin by inspecting the ignition spark and fuel supply. Also, verify that the combination switch is not on STOP. Check the wiring for faults or short circuits and inspect the plug cap or spark plug for defects. Ensure the combination switch is in the Choke position and inspect the carburetor. Other checks include cleaning the suction head, checking the fuel line for bends or interruptions, and inspecting the cylinder base packing ring and radial shaft packings. Finally, check the cylinder or piston rings, ensure the spark plug is properly sealed, inspect the spring in the starter, and look for any broken parts inside the engine.
