Why is my Makita EA5000P Chainsaw engine not starting?
- SStephanie Lin PhDAug 23, 2025
If your Makita Chainsaw engine doesn't start or starts with difficulty, several factors could be at play. It might be due to a malfunction in the fuel supply, compression system, or a mechanical issue. Inspect these components. Also, check the wiring, plug cap, and spark plug for any defects or short circuits. Ensure the combination switch isn't in the Choke position, and inspect the carburetor, suction head, and fuel line. Other potential causes include a defective cylinder base packing ring, radial shaft packings, cylinder, or piston rings, or a spark plug that doesn't seal. Lastly, a broken spring in the starter or broken parts inside the engine could be the culprit. Replace any defective parts.
