Why won't my Makita Chainsaw engine start?
- NNorman MarshallAug 17, 2025
If your Makita Chainsaw engine won't start or starts with difficulty, several factors could be the cause. It might be a malfunction in the fuel supply, compression system, or a mechanical issue. Inspect the ignition system, fuel supply, and compression system. Also, check if the STOP switch is activated or if there's a fault or short-circuit in the spark plug cap, or if the spark plug is defective. Make sure the combination switch isn't in the Choke position, and inspect the carburetor, suction head, and fuel line. Examine the packing rings and cylinder for any defects. Ensure the spark plug seals properly. Finally, inspect the starter spring and the interior components of the engine.
