shorting
pin

the
audio

unit

connected

one

two
units

SM-80,
connect
these
jacks
with
the
INPUT
jacks

SC-80.

connections
above

amplifiers
other
than
the
SM-80,
which
has
been
designed
specially
to
provide

monaural
operation
capability

well
as
stereo

Another
item
of
audio
equipment
with
a
remote
control
bus
can
be
connected
to
these
terminals
by
using
a
special-purpose
cable.
The
BUS
OUT
terminal
is.
used
to
send
signals
to
another
item
of
equipment.
The
BUS
IN
terminal
is
used
to
receive
signals
from
another
item
of
equipment.
The
connections
can
be
made
using
RCA-type
pin-plug
cords
available
in
audio
accessory
stores.

OUTLETS

By
connecting
this
outlet
to
the
power
plug
of
a
VCR,
tuner
or
TV
set
(the
audio
output
which
is
connected
to
this
unit)
and
by
leaving
its
power
switch
set
to
ON,
the
component's
power
will
be
switched
ON/OFF
in
conjunction
with
the
POWER
switch
of
this
unit.
The
power
consumption
of
the
connected
component
should
not
exceed
500
W.

amplifier

amplifier

stopped

controller

off.
Under
this
condition,
the.
power
from
the

outlet
of
the.
SC-80
is
turned
OFF.
The
STANDBY
indicator
lights
up
in
the
standby
mode.

condition
is

CAUTION:
if
the
amplifier
is
not
to
be
used.for
a
long
petiod
while
the
STANDBY
indicator
is
lighted,
press
the
POWER
switch
to
OFF.

INFRARED
RECEIVER
For
receiving
infrared
signals
from
an
infrared
transmitter.
MONITOR
SWITCHES
Press
one
of
these
switches
to
monitor
or
play
one
of
the
tape
decks
connected
to
this
unit.
The
indicator
above
the
pressed
switch
lights
up.

Selects
the
program
source
to
be
recorded
or
played
from
the
PHONO,
CD,
TUNER,
AUX
1
and
AUX

DIRECT
SWITCH
When
this
switch
is
pressed,
the
indicator
above
it
lights,
and
the
audio
signal
bypasses
the
tone
control
circuitry
(BASS,
TREBLE)
and
balance
control
circuitry
so
that
it
can
be
reproduced
with
a
higher
quality.
To
cancel
the
Source
Direct
operation,
ee,
the
switch
again.

MUTING
SWITCH
When
this
switch
is
pressed,
the
audio
signal
from
the
speakers
is
muted
to
-9¢
dB.
Use
this
switch
when
it
is
required
to
eliminate
the
speaker
sound
temporarily,
for
example
when
listening
to
the
sound
through
headphones.
The
indicator
lights
when
the
switch
is
pressed.
CAUTION:
Be
sure
to
check
the
VOLUME
control
setting
before
pressing
this
switch
to
cancel
muting.
If
the
muting
is
canceled
while
the
volume
setting
is
high,
the
speakers
could
be
damaged.

Adjusts
the
volume
level.
Turn
the
knob
clockwise
to.
increase

SELECTOR
SWITCH
Selects
the
tape
dubbing
mode
between
tape
decks,
or
the
signal
output
at
the
TAPE
1
and
DAT/TAPE
2
OUT
jacks.

BALANCE
CONTROL
Turn
the
knob
to.
correct
an
unbalanced
program
source
such
as
stereo
broadcast
or
to
vary
the
output
level
of
the
left
or
right
channel.
Note
that,
if
the
BALANCE
control
is
turned
fully
in
one
direction,
the
sound
will
not
be
heard
from
the
speaker
on
the
other
side.

BASS
AND
TREBLE
TONE
CONTROLS
Adjust
the
tone
by
controlling
the
levels
of
two
frequency
bands.
Turn
each
control
toward
(+)
to
enhance
the
corresponding
frequency
band,
or
toward
(—)
to
attenuate
it.
TREBLE:
Adjusts
the
high
frequency
level.
BASS:
Adjusts
the
low
frequency
level.
PHONES
JACK
Insert
the
standard
phone
plug
of
the
headphones
into
this
jack.
