PLUG
CONNECTIONS

The
wires
in
the
mains
lead
are
coloured
in
accordance
with
the
following
code:
brown
is
the
live
wire
blue
is
the
neutral
wire
Because
the
colours
of
these
wires
may
not
correspond
with
the
terminal
identification
in
your
plug,
proceed
as
follows.
Connect
the:
brown
wire
to
the
terminal
marked
‘L’
or
coloured
brown
or
red
blue
wire
to
the
terminal
marked
‘N’
or
coloured
blue
or
black.
When
using
a
13A
plug
conforming
to
BS1363,
use
a
3A
fuse.
For
other
plugs,
use
a
5A
or
lower
rated
fuse
in
the
plug,
adaptor
or
at
the
distribution
board.

PRECAUTIONS
The
following
precautions
should
be
taken
when
operating
the
equipment.
GENERAL
PRECAUTIONS
When
siting
the
equipment
ensure
that:
the
ventilation
holes
are
not
covered
air
is
allowed
to
circulate
freely
around
the
equipment
it
is
on
a
vibration
free
surface
it
will
not
be
exposed
to
interference
from
an
external
source
it
will
not
be
exposed
to
excessive
heat,
cold,
moisture
or
dust
it
will
not
be
exposed
to
direct
sunlight
it
will
not
be
exposed
to
electrostatic
discharges
In
addition,
never
place
heavy
objects
on
the
equipment.
If
a
foreign
body
or
water
does
enter
the
equipment,
contact
your
nearest
dealer
or
service
centre.
Do
not
pull
out
the
plug
by
pulling
on
the
mains
lead,
hold
the
plug.
It
is
advisable
when
leaving
the
house,
or
during
a
thunder-
storm,
to
disconnect
the
equipment
from
the
mains
supply.
REAR
PANEL
CONNECTIONS
All
connections’to
the
rear
panel
should
be
made
with
the
power
to
the
entire
system
turned
off.
To
avoid
confusion,
connect
one
cable
at
a
time
between
the
different
compo-
nents
of
your
system.
This
is
the
safest
way
to
avoid
cross-
connecting
channels
or
confusing
signal
inputs
with
out-
puts.

Should
be
connected
to
the
Tape
input
jacks
of
your
amplifier.

LINE
INPUTS
Should
be
connected
to
the
Tape
output
jacks
of
your
amplifier.

REMOTE
CONTROL
TERMINALS
For
the
system
remote
control
operation,
the
REMOTE
CONT.
IN
jack
should
be
connected
to
the
Remote
control
output
jack
of
your
amplifier
and
the
REMOTE
CONT.
OUT
jack
to
the
Remote
control
input
jack.
The
following
functions
of
this
Marantz
product
can
be
remote-controlled
when
it
is
connected
with
a
component
incorporating
the
remote
control
eye:
Play,
FF,
REW,
Pause,
Stop
Rec,
Rec
Mute,
OMS
(0
to
9
and
Next,
Previous),
AMS,
Counter
(Mode,
Memo)
However,
the
remote-controllable
functions
are
dependent
on
the
type
of
the
remote
commander
used.

product

be
remote-controlled
by
a
Learn-
ing
Remote
Commander
from
Marantz,
please
refer
to
the
Command
Code
Table
of
Figure
6
at
the
end
of
this
manual.

AC
POWER
SOURCE
CONNECTION
With
the
POWER
switch
set
to
the
OFF
position,
plug
the
AC
line
cord
into
an
AC
outlet
providing
the
proper
voltage.
