is

this

Scan

tion
is
activated,
“AMS”
is
displayed.

button

pressed
during
playback,

tape

advanced

beginning

Displays
the
peak
level

When

level

over

dB,
the
display
does
not
show
the
level
but
shows
only
“+dB”.
This
display
section
also
shows
the
variable
operation
modes
according
the
button
settings:
STOP,
PLAY,
FF
(fast
forwarding),

(fast
rewinding),

TAPE
TYPE
INDICATORS
With
the
built-in
auto
tape
selector,
the
recording
bias,
equalization
and
optimum
recording
level,
and
playback
equalization
are
automatically
set
according
to
the
type
of
cassette
loaded.
NORMAL:
For
normal
ferric
oxide
tapes.
CrOz:
For
chromium
dioxide
and
other
tapes
requiring
70
wS
equalization
and
high
bias.
METAL:
For
metal
tapes.

The
METAL
indicator
is
lit
when
no
cassette
tape
is
loaded.
@
PEAK
LEVEL
METERS
The
left
and
right
peak
level
displays
accurately
follow
the
strength
of
music
signals.
Set
the
REC
LEVEL
con-
trol
so
that
the
peak
level
meters
do
not
travel
over
the
optimum
recording
level
indicator
which
appears
as
triangle
indicator
above
the
scale.
Occasional
flashes
are
acceptable,
but
if
the
signal
is
allowed
to
consis-
tently
illuminate
the
optimum
recording
level
zone
of
the
displays,
audible
distortion
will
occur.

SKIP
INDICATOR
Lights
when
the
BLANK
SKIP
button
is
pressed
on.

MEMO
INDICATOR
Lights

the
MEMO
button
is
pressed

COUNTER/TIME
DISPLAY
Displays
either
tape
counter
reading
or
tape
running
time
according
to
the
COUNTER
MODE
button

ting.
MAIN
OPERATION
BUTTONS
REC
MUTE
button:
Pressing
this
button
while
the
deck
is
in
the
record
mode
causes
a
4
second
blank
space
to
be
recorded,
after
which
the
deck
enters
the
rec
pause
mode.
