SOURCE/TAPE
switch
When
recording
or
adjusting
the
recording
level,
press
this
switch
so
that
the
SOURCE
indicator
lights.
When
adjusting
the
recording
level,
the
sound
to
be
recorded
can
be
monitored.
During
recording,
the
source
sound
can
be
monitored
with
the
switch
in
the
SOURCE
position
and
the
just
recorded
sound
can
be
monitored
with
the
switch
in
the
TAPE
position.
During
playback,
this
switch
is
auto-
matically
set
to
the
TAPE
position
to
allow
listening
to
the
tape
sound
and
the
TAPE
indicator
lights.

CALL
BUTTON
The
peak
recording
level
is
automatically
stored
in
the
memory
of
this
cassette
deck.
The
peak
level
of
the
last
recording
can
be
recalled
and
the
peak
level
flashes
for
about
5
seconds
by
pressing
this
button.
PHONES
LEVEL
contro!
Used
to
adjust
the
volume
level
of
the
headphones
plugged
in
the
PHONES
jack.
To
increase
the
volume
level,
turn
this
control
clockwise.
To
decrease
the
volume
level,
turn
it
counterclockwise.

Accepts
headphones
(optional)
utilizing
a
standard
stereo
phone
plug.
COUNTER
OPERATION
BUTTONS
MEMO:
This
button
is
used
to
store
the
current
tape
location
in
memory.
Storing
the
current
tape
location
is
useful
when
it
is
desired
to
listen
to
the
current
selections
repeatedly.
After
pressing
this
button,
play
a
selection.
When
play
is
completed,
press
the
<4
button
to
rewind
or
>>
to
fast-
forward
the
tape.
The
tape
is
then
rewound
to
the
position
stored
in
memory
and
stops.
When
the
MEMO
button
is
pressed
several
times
the
tape
location
at
the
time
it
is
pressed
last
is
stored
in
memory.
RESET:
Press
this
button
to
reset
the
counter
reading
to
“0000”
or
play
time
to
“00.00”.
MODE:
To
select
the
counter
or
time
display,
press
this
button.
Each
time
this
button
is
pressed,
display
changes
between
counter
and
time
mode
alternately.

CASSETTE
COMPARTMENT
PLAYBACK
1.
Press
the
POWER
switch
to
ON.
2.
Press
the
EJECT
button
to
open
the
cassette
compart-
ment.
3.
Load
a
cassette
tape
and
close
the
cassette
compart-
ment.
4.
When
the
tape
has
been
recorded
using
Dolby
NR,
select
the
same
Dolby
NR
setting
as
was
used
in
record-
ing.
5.
Select
the
counter
mode
with
the
COUNTER
MODE
button
and
reset
the
counter
reading
with
the
COUNTER
RESET
button.
6.
Press
the
PLAY
button.
Quick
music
search
With
the
quick
music
search
function,
a
selection
located
up
to
15
selections
after
or
before
that
which
you
are
now
listening
to
or
stopped
at
can
be
played
back.
Example:
For
listening
to
the
selection
located
10
selections
after
the
current
one:
1.
Press
the
QMS
button
10
times.
“P-10”
appears
on
the
display.
2.
Press
the
>
button.
The
tape
will
be
fast
forwarded
to
the
beginning
of
the
specified
selection,
and
play
starts
automatically.

The
quick
music
search
function
operates
by
searching
for
blank
sections
on
the
tape.
Therefore,
to
play
back
the
selection
located
10
selections
before
the
current
one,
press
the
QMS
button
11
times
and
press
the
44
button.
When
the
QMS
button
is
pressed
10
times,
the
selection
located
9
selection
before
the
current
one.
RECORDING
1.
Press
the
POWER
switch
to
ON.
2.
Press
the
EJECT
button
to
open
the
cassette
compart-
ment.
3.
Load
a
cassette
tape
and
close
the
cassette
compart-
ment.
4.
Select
the
Dolby
NR,
HX
PRO
system
if
necessary.
*When
recording
an
FM
broadcast
with
Doiby
NR,
press
the
MPX-F
button.
5.
Select
the
counter
mode
with
the
COUNTER
MODE
button
and
reset
the
counter
with
the
COUNTER
RESET
button.
6.
Adjust
the
bias
and
recording
signal
levels
to
align
with
the
characteristics
of
the
cassette
to
be
used.
Refer
to
the
descriptions
of
the
BIAS
and
CALIBRATION
controls.
7.
Adjust
the
recording
level.
1)
Press
the
REC
button
to
engage
the
rec
pause
mode,
and
play
a
selection
of
the
program
to
be
recorded.
The
REC
indicator
flickers
to
indicate
the
rec
pause
mode.
2)
Watch
the
peak
level
meters
and
adjust
the
REC
LEVEL
control
to
keep
the
meter
reading
from
going
higher
than
the
optimum
level
indicator
adjusting
the
REC
LEVEL
control.
8.
Reset
the
source
to
be
recorded
back
to
the
beginning.
Press
the
PLAY
section
or
PAUSE
button
to
begin
recording
and
immediately
begin
playing
the
source.
To
temporarily
stop
the
recording,
press
the
PAUSE
button.
To
resume
recording,
press
the
PLAY
section
or
PAUSE
button.
