Overview

The Friia Hot/Cold/Sparkling system is a sleek and stylish beverage dispenser designed to provide instant access to hot, cold, and sparkling water. It offers a modern aesthetic that complements various environments, from offices to hospitality settings. The system is available with either a 3-liter or 8-liter boiler option, catering to different volume requirements.

Function Description

The core of the Friia system consists of a chiller/carbonator unit and a boiler unit, both designed for under-counter installation. The chiller/carbonator is responsible for cooling incoming water and, for sparkling variants, infusing it with CO2 to create carbonated water. The boiler unit heats water to a desired temperature, providing instant hot water. The system is operated via a stylish font that sits on the counter, dispensing the selected beverage.

For sparkling variants, the system requires a food-grade CO2 supply, which is not provided by Marco. The chiller/carbonator unit includes a compressor and uses R290 refrigerant. The carbonation process is initiated when the unit is turned on, with the carbonation pump filling the device until it reaches its maximum level. Users can adjust the CO2 pressure via a knob on the pressure reducer, typically between 50 and 65 PSI (3.5 - 4.5 bar), depending on water and ambient temperatures.

The system is designed for ease of installation, with clear guidelines for counter cut-outs, cabinet dimensions, and ventilation. Proper ventilation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the units, requiring at least two ventilation points in the cabinet. The chiller must be handled and transported in a vertical position to prevent damage to the refrigerator components.

Usage Features

The Friia system offers convenient access to three types of water: hot, cold, and sparkling (for relevant models). The font design is minimalist, ensuring it blends seamlessly with modern interiors. To dispense water, users simply select their desired option from the font.

Before initial use, several steps are necessary to ensure proper operation. After installation, the chiller appliance should stand upright for approximately two hours before connecting it to a power source to prevent malfunctions. All installation procedures, including plumbing and electrical connections, must be completed, and the water inlet must be open. For sparkling models, it's essential to check that water and carbon dioxide lines do not leak.

Once powered on, the "Power ON Status" light will illuminate. For sparkling water, the carbonation pump will begin to fill the device. To ensure proper carbonation and prevent air bubbles, users should open the vent on top of the chiller by pulling a ring. Finally, to enable filling of the lines, users should open the cold sparkling water and cold natural water lines in that order until the flows are regular and free of air, discharging at least 5 liters of water from each line. After these steps, the system is ready for use.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the Friia system is straightforward, focusing on daily cleaning and periodic sanitization and descaling.

How to Clean Friia:

  • Daily: The font should be wiped down daily with a non-abrasive cleaner to maintain its appearance and hygiene.
  • Every 6 months or after inactivity: The entire system should be sanitized every six months, after a filter change, or after a period of inactivity exceeding 72 hours. Sanitization kits, including internal water cooler sanitizing solution and chiller best service cartridges, are available for this purpose.

General Maintenance:

  • Water Filters: Marco recommends using both a HOT (scale reducing filter if limescale is present) and COLD (carbon block for taste and odor) water filters for the Friia system. Users are encouraged to contact Marco for advice on selecting the best water filter for their specific needs.
  • Descaling: If scale is present in the MIX boiler, it should be descaled. Scaleclean descaler products are available for this task.

The system's design facilitates maintenance, with components packed individually for easy handling and replacement. Regular adherence to these cleaning and maintenance guidelines will ensure the Friia system continues to provide high-quality hot, cold, and sparkling water efficiently and reliably.
