DAS VORBILD
Die amerikanische Lokomotivfabrik H. K. Porter exportierte
kleine Lokomotiven in alle Welt. Porter-Lokomotiven fuhren
bei Zuckerrohrbahnen auf Hawaii und auf den Philippinen
sowie auf amerikanischen Waldbahnen. Sie wurden auf
Minenbahnen in Arizona und Mexiko ebenso eingesetzt wie
auf der Baustelle des Panama-Kanals. Man fand sie sogar
im Personenverkehr auf Sansibar, einer tropischen Insel vor
Afrika.
THE PROTORYPE
The American locomotive works of H. K. Porter exported
small locomotives to many countries. Porter locomotives
ran on the sugar tramways of Hawaii and the Philippines, as
well as on American logging railroads. They were used in
mines in Arizona and Mexico and during the construction of
the Panama canal. You could even find them in passenger
service on Zanzibar, a tropical island off the African coast.
