Overview

The Marshall Monitor II A.N.C. are wireless over-ear headphones featuring Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology. These headphones are designed for users who want to immerse themselves in their audio while having control over their listening environment.

Function Description:

The Marshall Monitor II A.N.C. headphones offer a comprehensive set of features for audio playback, call management, and environmental control. The core functionality revolves around wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth®, with the added benefit of Active Noise Cancelling. This ANC technology continuously monitors ambient noise and adjusts the level of noise cancellation to provide a more focused listening experience. Users can switch between two ANC modes: "Active noise cancelling" to block out external sounds and "Monitoring mode" to allow some ambient sound in, facilitating conversations or awareness of surroundings without removing the headphones. The level of noise cancelling and monitoring can be fine-tuned using the Marshall Bluetooth app.

For wired connectivity, the headphones include a 3.5 mm input, allowing them to be used with devices that do not support Bluetooth. When the 3.5 mm cable is connected, Bluetooth streaming is automatically disconnected.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth® for wireless audio streaming.
  • Charging: USB-C port for charging.
  • Battery Life: A full battery recharge takes approximately 2 hours, providing extended wireless playtime. A quick 15-minute charge can yield up to 5 hours of wireless playtime.
  • ANC Technology: Active Noise Cancelling with two modes: Active noise cancelling and Monitoring mode.
  • Control: Multi-directional control knob, customisable M-button, and ANC mode button.
  • App Integration: Marshall Bluetooth app for customisation of M-button functions, ANC settings, and EQ presets.

Usage Features:

The headphones are controlled primarily through a multi-directional control knob located on the right ear cup. This knob allows users to:

  • Power On/Off: Push and hold for 2 seconds.
  • Play/Pause: Single-click.
  • Skip Tracks: Push right for skip forward, push left for skip back.
  • Fast Forward/Rewind: Push right and hold for fast forward, push left and hold for rewind.
  • Adjust Volume: Push upwards for turn up, push downwards for turn down.
  • Handle Calls: Single-click to answer or end a call, double-click to reject an incoming call.

The LED indicator on the left ear cap provides visual feedback on the headphones' status:

  • Red-Orange-Yellow-Green: Indicates charging status (0-100% battery level).
  • White Light Blinking Every 5th Second: Powered on, connected to a Bluetooth® device with audio paused.
  • White Blinking: Searching for previously paired devices.
  • Blue Blinking: Bluetooth pairing mode.
  • Off: Power off or playing via Bluetooth.

The ANC mode button allows for quick toggling between Active noise cancelling and Monitoring mode with a short press. Pushing and holding the ANC button for 2 seconds turns ANC off or on.

A customisable M-button offers additional functionality. Through the Marshall Bluetooth app, users can configure the M-button to switch between three different equaliser presets or activate their phone's voice assistant (e.g., Google Assistant).

Maintenance Features:

The Marshall Monitor II A.N.C. includes troubleshooting steps for common issues:

  • Cannot Pair with a Bluetooth Device: Ensure headphones are off, then push and hold the control knob for 4 seconds until the LED blinks blue to enter pairing mode. If connected to a 3.5 mm cable, disconnect it before attempting Bluetooth pairing.
  • ANC Not Working: Ensure headphones are turned on (push control knob for 2 seconds). If ANC is off, push the ANC button for 2 seconds to turn it on. Short-press the ANC button to toggle modes. Check the Marshall Bluetooth app to ensure ANC level is not turned down.
  • Two Instances of MONITOR II in Bluetooth Device List: This is normal behavior, as the headphones use two Bluetooth connections (one for audio streaming, one for the app's low energy connection). No action is needed.
  • Headphones Not Responding: Perform a hardware reset by pushing and holding the M-button while pushing the control button downwards. If the problem persists, a factory reset can be performed by pushing and holding both the M-button and the control knob for 7 seconds until the LED indicator turns purple. Note that a factory reset will delete all user settings, requiring re-setup.

The headphones are designed to be charged via a USB-C cable, connecting to any USB power source. An alert will sound when the battery charge is low.

The Marshall Bluetooth app serves as a central hub for customisation and maintenance, allowing users to adjust ANC levels, configure the M-button, and manage EQ settings. Regular visits to the marshallheadphones.com website are recommended for up-to-date information and software updates, as the product's functions and compatibility can change with software updates.
