INSTALLATION
THE ALARM MUST BE INSTALLED BY A LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
• The alarm will function correctly as a stand alone alarm or interconnected with other FSA 20000 alarms.
• All interconnected alarms must be supplied from a single power circuit.
• Do not connect the interconnect wire to active or neutral.
• Connect and power the smoke alarm with 220-240VAC only. The smoke alarm is suitable for use with non-pure sinusoidal power
sources (e.g. power derived from square-wave invertors)
All 220-240V wiring must comply with AS3100 wiring rules.
Solid wires with 1mm
2
(or larger) cross-section area are recommended for power supply and inter-connection. Strip the Live,
Neutral, and Inter-connect wires back to the length of 10mm.
Connect the wires to the terminals and ensure the screws are fully tightened. The colors of wires are: Live = Brown; Neutral = Blue,
Inter-connect = White. The smoke alarm can be interconnected as many as 20 units in series. Check the connections carefully
before closing the junction box. Incorrect connection may damage the unit.
Connect and powered the smoke alarm with 220 - 240VAC only. The smoke alarm is suitable for use with non-pure sinusoidal
power sources (e.g. power derived from square-wave invertors)
For electrical noise elimination, a ferrite bead is supplied with this smoke alarm. Two mains wires need approx 18cm length for
winding the bead with 1 turn as shown below.
The bead should be installed less than 15cm from the screwed terminals. Earth loop and interconnection wire are not necessary
with any bead.
• Carefully check the connections before closing the sliding terminal cover - incorrect connection may damage the unit.
• Screw the mountains base to the ceiling or wall.
• Install the 9V battery and close. The alarm will not close if a 9V battery is not tted.
• Turn on the power and check the alarm LEDs. The green LED should glow to indicate that the power is present. Press the test
button to check that the alarm is operational. Interconnected alarms should also be checked.
• Do not leave the installation until alarms have been checked and are operational.
• When powering up the unit several audible beeps may sound - this is normal operation for the unit.

MAINTENANCE
• The Smoke Alarm is virtual maintenance free, however it is recommended that the alarm is inspected monthly to ensure that
it is free from dirt or dust. The alarm can be vacuumed or brushed with soft brush to remove dust, dirt or kitchen grease that has
accumulated.
• ALWAYS TEST THE SMOKE ALARM AFTER CLEANING.
• If the smoke alarm fails to operate correctly, the advice of the supplier or manufacturer be sought.
