Overview

The Maven 140IS is an iron station designed for domestic use, offering a range of features to simplify ironing tasks. Its primary function is to provide continuous steam for effective wrinkle removal across various fabric types.

Function Description

The Maven 140IS utilizes pump technology to deliver a consistent and endless supply of steam. This system is designed to be efficient, although a slight "chugging" noise may be audible during operation, which can increase if the unit runs out of water or if the filter is not properly soaked. The iron station features multiple temperature settings, allowing users to select the appropriate heat and steam level for different garments. An "Eco Mode" is available, which is safe for all fabrics, providing a versatile option for general ironing.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Water Tank Capacity: 1.5 liters.
  • Heat-up Time: Under 30 seconds, thanks to fast heat-up technology.
  • Power Cord Length: 8 feet.
  • Steam Hose Length: 60 inches.
  • Auto-off Feature: The unit is equipped with a 10-minute auto-off function for safety and energy saving. It can be re-engaged by moving the iron or pressing any button.
  • Temperature Settings: The Maven 140IS offers four distinct temperature settings, in addition to an Eco Mode:
    • Eco Mode: Safe for all fabrics.
    • Dot 1: Lowest setting, no steam.
    • Dot 2: Medium/low setting, low steam.
    • Dot 3: Medium heat, medium steam.
    • Dot 4: Max heat and steam.

Usage Features

The Maven 140IS is designed for ease of use and versatility. Its fast heat-up time means it's ready for use in under 30 seconds, minimizing waiting periods. The multiple temperature and steam settings allow for precise control, ensuring optimal results for different fabric types. Users are advised to consult garment labels and follow manufacturer's ironing instructions for best practices. The 1.5-liter water tank capacity allows for extended ironing sessions without frequent refills. The 8-foot power cord and 60-inch steam hose provide ample reach and flexibility during use.

For safety, the iron station includes a 10-minute auto-off feature. If the iron is left unattended for this duration, it will automatically shut off. To resume operation, simply move the iron or press any button.

Maintenance Features

To prolong the life of the iron station, the Maven 140IS includes a filter. Before the first use, it is crucial to follow the instructions provided in the manual or quick start guide to soak the filter. This step is essential for the proper functioning and longevity of the device.

Regarding water usage, while distilled water is not strictly required, its use is recommended, especially in areas with hard water, as it will help prolong the life of the iron. If tap water is used, particularly hard water, it is suggested to empty the 1.5-liter water tank after each use. This practice helps prevent settled water from clogging the unit. For best results, always use clean, fresh water.

The manufacturer recommends using the iron for 4 to 6 hours a week to maximize the life of the iron station. Using it for longer periods may shorten its lifespan.

Important Considerations

  • Extension Cords: It is not recommended to use the Maven 140IS with an extension cord or power bar/surge protector. If an extension cord/surge protector is absolutely necessary, it must have an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the iron. Using a cord with lower amperage can lead to overheating, fire, or electric shock, and will void the warranty. Care should be taken to arrange the cord to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Commercial Use: The Maven 140IS is designed as a domestic iron and should not be used in commercial settings.
  • Water in Tank (New Unit): It is normal for a brand new Maven 140IS to have some residual water in the tank. This is due to 100% testing during production. The manufacturer assures that only new products are sold unless otherwise advertised.
