The MAXXHAUL LED Trailer Lights, Model 70468, are designed to provide essential lighting for trailers, ensuring safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. This kit is specifically intended for trailers less than 80 inches in width and operates on a 12V negative ground circuit. The primary function of these lights is to provide stop, tail, and turn signals, which are crucial for communicating a towed vehicle's intentions to other drivers.
The kit includes two submersible trailer lights, a license plate bracket, a Y-Harness, and a Trunk Harness, along with necessary hardware and connectors for installation. One of the trailer lights features a clear window on the bottom, designed to illuminate a license plate holder, ensuring visibility of the license plate at night. The lights are equipped with LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology, which offers durability and efficiency.
Before assembly, installation, operation, or servicing, it is imperative to read and understand the entire manual. This manual provides critical safety information, including warnings about potential personal injury hazards and instructions for safe handling and use. Splice Connectors are used to make these connections, ensuring a secure electrical link. The white ground wire from the Trunk Harness must be attached to a clean, bare metal surface on the towing vehicle's frame. Similarly, the white ground wire from the Right Hand Tail Light needs to be attached to a clean, bare metal surface on the trailer frame.
The Left Hand Tail Light, which includes the clear window for license plate illumination, is mounted to the left rear of the trailer. The license plate bracket is then mounted underneath this light using the provided hardware. The Right Hand Tail Light is mounted to the right rear of the trailer. Both lights should be positioned so that their red reflectors face outward, ensuring visibility from the side of the trailer. The Y-Harness wires are routed along the sides of the trailer frame, with the connected yellow and brown wires running down the left side, and the green and brown wires running down the right side. Frame clips are provided to secure these wires to the trailer frame, preventing them from being pinched or damaged. Wire connectors are used to connect the Y-Harness wires to the corresponding wires on each tail light.
Once the wiring is complete, the Trunk Harness plug is connected to the Y-Harness plug. A crucial step before driving is to test the operation of the lights. This involves having a second person act as a spotter while the headlights of the towing vehicle are turned on to check the tail lights. The vehicle's brake pedal should then be depressed to verify the brighter stop lights, and the turn signals activated to ensure the brighter blinking lights function correctly. If an LED light is burned out, the entire trailer light unit will need to be replaced as the LEDs are not serviceable.

Furthermore, if the trailer has turn signals wired separately from the stop lights, different installation methods may be required, and a qualified service technician should be consulted. The vehicle and trailer must be in a safe, level location, away from moving traffic, with the engine OFF and the parking brake set during installation and servicing. A circuit tester (not included) is recommended to verify the correct wires on the tow vehicle's wiring harness.
The product is warranted to the original retail purchaser to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of shipment for 90 days from the date of purchase. Proof of purchase, such as an original invoice or sales receipt, is required for warranty transactions. This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied.
