Why does my Maytag Dryer blow fuses or trip the circuit breaker?
    • D
      Danielle CainAug 1, 2025
If your Maytag Dryer is blowing fuses or tripping the circuit breaker, it could be due to several reasons. The amperage readings at 240 volts may indicate an issue with the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit breaker if one line reads 24 amps, the other 21 amps, and the neutral line reads 3 amps. Other potential causes include a shorted heating element to the housing, incorrect wiring or a wire shorting to ground, or a drive motor winding shorting to ground.

      daniel15Aug 11, 2025
If your Maytag Dryer won't start, make sure all wires are correctly connected, the dryer is plugged in, and no fuses are blown or circuit breakers tripped. Also, check that the door switch is functional and the door is closed, the Start/Pause rotary selector dial is working, the control board is operational, and the drive motor is functional. Check the motor winding resistance: it should be 2.88ohms - Open flame sensor between pin #3 and 4, 3.5ohms between pin #4 and 5. Finally, inspect for any open wiring.
