What to do if my Maytag Washer is not draining?
    • M
      Melissa ClarkAug 21, 2025
If your Maytag Washer isn't draining, several factors could be at play. Small items might be caught in the pump or between the basket and tub; empty pockets and use garment bags for small items to prevent this. Cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water than high-speed cycles. Tightly packed or unbalanced loads can also prevent proper spinning. Ensure the drain hose is correctly installed, not extending more than 4.5" into the standpipe, and that the end is not higher than 96" above the floor. Remove any clogs from the drain hose. Finally, too much detergent can cause excessive suds, slowing or stopping the draining and spinning process; use only HE detergent, measuring it according to the load size. To remove extra suds, select Rinse & Spin without adding detergent.

Why is the lid locked light flashing on my Maytag MVWX655DW1 Washer?
    • L
      leslie85Aug 23, 2025
The lid locked light may be flashing on your Maytag Washer because the lid is not completely closed. Close the lid to allow the washer to start or fill. Alternatively, if a cycle was stopped or paused, the lid will not unlock until the basket has stopped spinning, which may take several minutes for large or heavy loads.

How to improve cleaning and stain removal in my Maytag MVWX655DW1?
    • C
      Catherine ShortAug 26, 2025
To enhance cleaning and stain removal in your Maytag Washer, avoid adding extra water, as the washer automatically adjusts the water level based on load size. Ensure the washer isn't overloaded, as tightly packed loads reduce cleaning efficiency. Add detergent, oxi products, and color-safe bleach to the bottom of the basket before adding clothes. Wash like colors together and promptly remove items after the cycle to prevent dye transfer. Use HE detergent in the correct amount. Select the appropriate cycle for the fabric type, opting for a higher soil level and warmer wash temperature for better cleaning. Use the dispenser for chlorine bleach and fabric softener to prevent staining, loading it before starting the cycle, and avoid adding products directly onto the load.

Why are my clothes tangling in my Maytag Washer?
    • J
      Jennifer ArnoldAug 28, 2025
Clothes can tangle in your Maytag Washer if it's not loaded correctly. Load items in loose heaps evenly around the washplate. Reduce tangling by mixing types of load items and using the recommended cycle for the items being washed. You may also select a cycle with a slower wash action and spin speed, however items will be wetter than those using a higher speed spin.

Why are there dry spots on my clothes after a Maytag Washer cycle?
    • C
      Crystal GibsonAug 30, 2025
Dry spots on your clothes after a Maytag Washer cycle are normal. The high spin speeds combined with airflow during the final spin can cause items near the top of the load to develop dry spots during the final spin.

What to do if there is still sand, pet hair, or lint on clothes after washing in my Maytag MVWX655DW1?
    • B
      Brenda BallSep 1, 2025
If you find sand, pet hair, or lint on your clothes after washing in your Maytag Washer, it may be due to heavy residues. Adding an Extra Rinse to the selected cycle should help.

Why are the wash temperatures wrong in my Maytag MVWX655DW1?
    • H
      Howard LeeSep 6, 2025
If you're experiencing incorrect wash or rinse temperatures with your Maytag Washer, check for a proper water supply. Make sure the hot and cold inlet hoses are not reversed. Both hoses must be attached to both the washer and the faucet, ensuring hot and cold water flow to the inlet valve. Also, inspect the inlet valve screens for any clogs and remove any kinks in the hoses.

How to prevent fabric damage in my Maytag MVWX655DW1 Washer?
    • H
      Hannah FisherSep 8, 2025
To prevent fabric damage in your Maytag Washer, empty pockets of sharp items, zip zippers, and snap or hook fasteners before washing to avoid snags and tears. Tie all strings and straps to prevent tangling. Mend any rips and broken threads in seams before washing. Load items in loose heaps evenly around the washplate to avoid tightly packing the washer. Use the cycle designed for the fabrics being washed and add only 1 or 2 items after the washer has started. Do not pour liquid chlorine bleach directly onto the load and wipe up any bleach spills. Do not use more bleach than recommended by the manufacturer, as undiluted bleach will damage fabrics. Avoid placing load items on top of the bleach dispenser when loading and unloading the washer.

Why is my Maytag MVWX655DW1 load not rinsing properly?
    • K
      Kristina JohnsonSep 12, 2025
If your Maytag Washer load isn't rinsing properly, check for a proper water supply and ensure the hot and cold inlet hoses aren't reversed. Both hoses must be attached and have water flowing to the inlet valve, and both hot and cold water faucets must be on. Inspect the inlet valve screens for clogs and remove any kinks in the inlet hose. Ensure you are using HE detergent and not using too much of it, as suds from regular detergent can keep the washer from operating correctly. Also, make sure the washer is loaded as recommended.
