Overview

Device Description: VS400 Vein Finder

The VS400 Vein Finder is a portable, handheld instrument designed to assist medical professionals in locating superficial veins. It operates by detecting veins beneath the skin using infrared light and then projecting an image of these veins directly onto the skin surface. This device is intended to be a supplementary tool and should not replace sound medical judgment based on visual and tactile vein location skills. It is crucial for medical practitioners to adhere to appropriate medical protocols and practices of their facility when using the VS400.

Function Description

The primary function of the VS400 Vein Finder is to visualize superficial vasculature for medical procedures such as venipuncture. It projects an image of the veins, allowing qualified medical personnel to identify veins of suitable size and location. The device is internally powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, enabling continuous operation.

Key operational features include:

  • Vein Detection: Uses infrared light to detect superficial veins.
  • Image Projection: Projects the detected vein image onto the skin.
  • Color Adjustment: Offers five projection colors (cyan, green, natural, red, blue) with cyan as the default.
  • Size Adjustment: Provides three projection sizes (full size, 2/3 size, and 1/2 size) with full size as the default.
  • Brightness Contrast (Inverse): Allows adjustment of brightness contrast, making blood vessels appear brighter and surrounding tissues dimmer. The default projection of blood vessels is dim.
  • Mode Switching: Features different brightness levels (3 degrees) and allows switching between "universal mode" (standard picture mode for all patients) and "fine detail mode" (for finding smaller and deeper veins). The device defaults to the second degree of brightness and universal mode upon boot.
  • Focusing: The imaging unit should be held approximately 7.87 inches (200mm) above the observation area, perpendicular to the surface, and adjusted slightly until the texts at the image edge are clear.
  • Software Version Display: The software version can be viewed by pressing the Inverse and Color buttons on the control panel.

    • Wake Up: Short press the Power button (less than 0.5 seconds) when in standby mode.
    • Power Off: Press the Power button for more than 2 seconds until the instrument "beeps" twice and the indicator light turns off.
  • Battery Status: The battery indicator is located in the upper right corner of the projection image. The device beeps continually when power is less than 3%.
  • Charging Process:
    1. Connect the charging cradle to AC power with the adapter.
    2. Switch the main switch to "OFF".
    3. Place the imaging unit into the charging cradle.
    4. The indicator light turns blue during charging and green when fully charged.
    • Caution: Ensure correct direction when placing the imaging unit to avoid damage. Avoid placing hands or body parts above the adapter for more than 1 minute during charging due to potential high temperatures.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Always remove the VS400 from its support and unplug the power cable before cleaning.
    • Lens Window: Clean monthly with a dust-free cloth and 95% alcohol, then air dry or wipe with a dust-free cloth. Avoid scratching the lens.
    • Device Body: Clean every two months with a dust-free cloth dipped in 70% alcohol, then air dry or wipe with a dust-free cloth.
  • General Maintenance:
    • Avoid immersing the device in any liquid or allowing liquid to remain on it.
    • Do not use pressure or heat for sterilization.
    • Do not use organic solvents or rough cloths to wipe any part of the device.
    • Periodic Inspection: Inspect the device every two months for obvious damage. Perform safety checks every 1-2 years as specified by public institutions.
    • Calibration Check: Evaluate alignment by checking for separation between the projected line and the printed line on the calibration card. If separation is evident, cease use and contact the distributor or manufacturer.
    • Battery Maintenance:
      • Fully charge the battery before first use.
      • Avoid full discharge; charge before it runs out.
      • If the battery enters protected mode due to short circuit or over-discharge, charge it to recover.
      • Inspect charging and discharging functions every two months.
      • Use only the original adapter for charging.
      • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
