®
basic
Intended purpose
The Lumbamed basic is a lumbar
support. The product is exclusively to be
used for the orthotic fitting of the lower
back and only on intact skin.
Areas of use
• Non-specific pain in the area of the
lumbar spine
• Wear-related pain in the area of the
lumbar spine
• Irritation of the sacro-iliac joint
• Excessive stress on the border
between the lumbar spine and the
pelvis
• Weak or imbalanced musculature in
the trunk (back or stomach)
• Loosening of the pubic symphysis
Side-Effects / Contraindications
There are no known side effects if the
correctly sized product is fitted as
recommended. If unexpected pain,
swelling or numbness occurs while
wearing the support, remove it and
seek medical advice. Particular care is
required where the following conditions
are present:
• Diseases or injuries of the skin in the
area of use, especially with
inflammatory symptoms (excessive
warming, swelling or reddening).
Any combination with other products
must be discussed in advance with the
responsible doctor.
Mode of Action/Comment on Wear
Please note that initial fitting should be
supervised by a healthcare professional.
With the combination of the
compressive knitted fabric and the
integrated back rods, Lumbamed basic
stabilises the area of the lumbar spine
and the border to the pelvis, without
impairing muscular strength. The static
forces in the vertebral column are
improved and stress on the affected
segments is reduced. This alleviates pain.
Supports cause the greatest effect
during physical exercise. In principal, the
support can be worn all day. However,
this depends on how comfortable the
support is to wear. The support should
be taken off for longer breaks
(e.g. sitting for a long time or a long car
drive, sleeping).
If you suffer excessive pain or discomfort
during wear, please take off the product
immediately and seek medical advice.
The support is also suitable for use in
water. After use, please rinse out the
product thoroughly.
Putting on / taking off
• The label on the right inside of the fas-
tener explains how to put the support
on (Fig. 1).
• First, slip into the wrist strap in the
left inside of the fastener. Wrap the
bandage around the body and then slip
into the outer wrist strap on the right
side (Fig. 2+3).
• Pull the two fastening sides over each
other and then secure them as cen-
trally as possible with the Velcro. The
bandage has been correctly applied
when the bottom edge of the fastener
is located just above the pubic bone
(Fig. 4+5).
• The small finger tab on the edge of the
right side of the fastener will help you
to undo the bandage again (Fig. 6).
The Clima Comfort knitted fabric will
achieve its best breathing activity when
the bandage is worn directly against
the skin.
