appliance. 
•Turntheapplianceon. The lamp on the switch
lights up and the brewing process begins.
•Aftermakingyourcoeethehotplatewillkeepit
warm and will turn o automatically after 40
minutes. This avoids unnecessary use of electricity
and saves energy. You can of course turn the
appliance o manually at any time.
4. Cleaning and maintenance
External cleaning
•Thehousingcanbecleanedwithasoftdampcloth.
•Theglasspotandlid,thelterinsertandtheswivel
filter can be washed in the dishwasher.
•Whencold,thehotplatecanbecleanedwithasoft
damp cloth.
Descaling
Depending on water hardness calcification can occur
over time. This increases the appliance’s energy
consumption as lime scale on the heating element can
prevent the water heating eectively. To avoid damage
the appliance must be descaled regularly. You should
descale your coee machine after about every 40
brewings.
The descaling process consists of 2 steps both of
which must be carried out completely.
1. Descaling
•Followthemanufacturersinstructionsregarding
amounts and fill the water tank up to the MAX level.
We recommend using Melitta
®
Anti Calc Filter Café
Machines. 
•Turntheapplianceonandfollowtheinstructions
given by the descaler manufacturer.
•Whenthedescalerliquidhascompletelyrunthrough
the appliance, turn the appliance o immediately. 
2. Rinsing
•Afterstep1 the appliance must be rinsed with
fresh water. Allow the appliance to cool for about
two minutes then fill with the maximum amount
of water. 
•Turntheapplianceonandallowthewatertoow
through completely. Then turn o immediately. 
•Repeattherinsingprocess.
5. Notes on disposal
•Applianceslabelledwiththissymbol are subject
to European guidelines for WEEE (Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment.
•Electricappliancesdonotgointhehouseholdbin.
Dispose of the appliance in an environmentally
friendly way using suitable collection systems.
•Packagingmaterialsarerawmaterialsandcanbe
recycled. Please recycle them.
