5.4 Settings and handling (see page *1*)
a. Switchontheextractionunitrstandthen
switch on the sander. Hold the machine securely
andpresstheOn/Oswitch.Actuatetheoperat-
ing level to start sanding. Anticipate a rotational
movement on activation.
b. Holdtherandomorbitalsanderwithboth
hands at the designated insulated grip areas.
c. Adjusttherotationalspeedviathespeed
controls [–] and [+] in 1,000 [rpm] increments from
4,000 [rpm] to 10,000 [rpm]. Higher speeds allow
more abrasion, while lower speeds ensure more
control over the sanding process.
Sandingperformance,quantityandquality
depend largely on the correct choice of
abrasive.
d. Beginthesandingprocessbygentlylowering
the power tool onto the substrate.
Caution! Secure the workpiece in place to
prevent its movement during sanding.
Press down onto the substrate only as much
as needed to have the abrasive in full
contact with the surface. Pressing down with too
much force can result in spiral-shaped scratch
patterns on the substrate and may damage the
tool long-term. We recommend using a circular,
overlapping forward motion of the sanding head
across the work area. The sander should remain in
constantmotionuntilthedesiredrenementis
achieved, as prolonged sanding in place will result
in abrasion marks.
Too much pressure will result in an overloading of
the machine and overheating of the sanding disc
and driving disc, leading to premature wear.
Thesandingqualityandperformancedepends
largely on the correct choice of abrasive.
e.Release the operating lever to deactivate the
sander. The driving disc with the abrasive will
slowdowntoastandstill.Switchothesanderby
pressingtheOn/Oswitch.Makesurethat
the driving disc has come to a complete standstill
before putting down the machine.
Caution! The mains plug must be
disconnected from the mains
socket and must not be plugged into the
mains socket for all attachment and
detachment works described in these
operating instructions! Wait until the driving
disc has come to a complete standstill!
