The electric parking brake replaces the previous parking
brake and is integrated into electronic air-processing unit
control unit. The electronic air-processing unit control
unit receives the driver's request to actuate/release the
parking brake via the parking brake lever control unit in
the instrument panel.
For the electric parking brake, the actuator (relay valve)
and the control of the parking brake (solenoid valves/
pneumatic valves) have been integrated in the electronic
air-processing unit control unit. The previous pneumatic
connection for the operating lever of the parking brake is
thus omitted. The software of the electronic air-
processing unit control unit has been expanded to
include the parking brake control scopes.
An additional pneumatic connection for the trailer control
valve facilitates the activation of the trailer service brake
where the parking brake is engaged in the towing
vehicle.
