Why my MerCruiser Engine will not start or is hard to start?
    • J
      Joseph WilliamsAug 1, 2025
If your MerCruiser Engine won't start or is hard to start, consider the following: * Check the lanyard stop switch. * Ensure you are following the correct starting procedure. * Verify sufficient fuel supply by filling the fuel tank or opening the valve. * Replace the fuel filter if it's clogged. * Drain and replace stale or contaminated fuel with fresh fuel. * Inspect fuel lines and tank vent lines for kinks or clogs; replace or clear them. * Check all wire connections. If these steps don't resolve the issue, have the EFI system checked by an authorized Mercury MerCruiser dealer, or service the ignition system.
