What to do if the pilot won't stay lit on my MHSC Indoor Fireplace after following the lighting instructions?
    • D
      Deanna MontgomeryAug 12, 2025
If the pilot light won't stay lit, the issue could stem from a defective pilot generator or remote wall switch. Ensure the pilot flame properly hits the thermocouple/thermopile. Clean and adjust the pilot for the best possible flame impingement on the thermopile and thermocouple. Alternatively, a defective automatic valve might be the cause. Turn the valve knob to 'Pilot' and maintain flow to the pilot; a millivolt meter should display a reading greater than 10 mV. If the reading is adequate, consider replacing the gas valve. Note: An interrupter block (not supplied) must be used to conduct this test.

How to fix frequent pilot outage problem in MHSC Indoor Fireplace?
    • M
      Michael LeeAug 27, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your MHSC Indoor Fireplace can often be attributed to a pilot flame that is either too low or being blown out. Try cleaning and adjusting the pilot flame to ensure it properly impinges on both the thermopile and thermocouple. Also, check the vent terminal for any blockages that might be recycling flue gases, as this can also cause pilot outages.

What to do if the spark ignitor won't light my MHSC Indoor Fireplace?
    • C
      Christopher AlexanderSep 4, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your MHSC Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting, there are a couple of things you can check. First, try lighting the pilot manually with a match. If the pilot lights with a match, turn off the pilot and try pushing the red button again. If it still doesn't light, inspect the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be about 1/8 inch to produce a strong spark. If there's still no spark, the ignitor itself (the push button) may be defective. Push the piezo ignitor button and check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, you'll need to replace the ignitor.

Why won't my MHSC Indoor Fireplace main burner ignite when the pilot is lit?
    • N
      Nicole WilsonNov 18, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner won't ignite, the problem could be due to several reasons. First, check the wall switch and wiring for any loose or faulty connections. You can use a jumper wire across the terminals at the wall switch; if the burner ignites, replace the defective wall switch. If the switch is fine, try jumping the wires across the wall switch wires at the valve. If the burner then ignites, the wires or their connections are likely faulty. Another potential cause is that the thermopile isn't generating enough millivoltage. Ensure the wire connections from the thermopile to the gas valve terminals are secure, and the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot bracket. Remove the wall switch wires from the valve terminals to check for grounded wires. Use a milliv...
