Overview

This document is a user manual for the Midea 11D Series Fixed Speed/Inverter Split Type Room Air Conditioner. It provides comprehensive information on safety precautions, operating instructions, care and maintenance, troubleshooting tips, e-waste management guidelines, and warranty terms and conditions.

Function Description:

The Midea 11D Series air conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (on cooling & heating models), and dehumidifying functions for indoor spaces. It features various operating modes including AUTO, COOL, HEAT, DRY, and FAN ONLY. The unit incorporates special functions such as Refrigerant Leakage Detection, Louver Angle Memory Function (optional), SELF CLEAN function (optional), CLEAN AIR function (on some models), and Anti-mildew function (optional).

Refrigerant Leakage Detection: This feature alerts the user with an 'EC' display and flashing LED indication lamps on the outdoor unit if refrigerant leakage is detected, enhancing safety and system integrity.

Louver Angle Memory Function (Optional): The air conditioner can memorize the open angle of the horizontal louver within a safe range. If the set angle exceeds the safety boundary, it will revert to a standard angle. This function is temporarily overridden by pressing the turbo or manual control button, or by unplugging and re-plugging the machine. Users are advised not to set the horizontal louver angle too small to prevent condensed water from dripping.

SELF CLEAN Function (Optional): Activated after cooling operation, this function cleans the evaporator to maintain fresh air for subsequent operations. For cooling models, the unit runs in FAN ONLY mode at low speed for 30 minutes before turning off. For cooling & heating models, it follows a sequence of FAN ONLY (low speed), Heating (low speed), FAN ONLY, and then turns off. This function is available in COOL (AUTO COOL, FORCED COOL) and DRY modes. It is recommended to run the air conditioner in cooling mode for about 30 minutes before activating SELF CLEAN. Activating SELF CLEAN cancels all TIMER settings. Pressing the SELF CLEAN button again during operation will stop the unit.

CLEAN AIR Function (on some models): This function improves indoor air quality through an ionizer or Plasma Dust Collector (depending on the model). The ionizer generates anions for refreshing and healthy air circulation. The Plasma Dust Collector creates a high-voltage ionization zone, converting air into plasma and capturing dust, smoke, and pollen particles with an electrostatic filter.

Anti-mildew Function (Optional): When the unit is turned off in COOL, DRY, or AUTO (Cool) mode, it continues to operate for 7-10 minutes with soft wind. This helps dry condensed water inside the evaporator, preventing mildew growth. The air conditioner should not be restarted until it has completely turned off after the anti-mildew operation.

  • DEFROST indication lamp (cooling & heating models only): Lights up during automatic defrosting or warm air control in heating operation.

Usage Features:

  • Manual Operation: In case the remote controller is disabled or for maintenance, the unit can be operated manually. By lifting the front panel and pressing the manual button, the operation mode cycles through AUTO, COOL, OFF. The default setting temperature is 24°C/76°F. This is for testing purposes only; the remote controller should be used to restore normal operation.
  • Airflow Direction Control:
    • Vertical Airflow (Up-Down): Adjusted using the remote controller, the horizontal louver moves 6° per press or swings automatically.
    • Horizontal Airflow (Left-Right): Adjusted manually by moving the deflector rod. Users are warned not to insert fingers into the blower and suction panels due to high-speed fan danger.
  • Optimal Operation Tips:
    • Adjust airflow direction away from people.
    • Set temperature for maximum comfort, avoiding excessive levels.
    • Keep doors and windows closed in COOL or HEAT modes.
    • Use TIMER ON for scheduled operation.
    • Avoid placing objects near air inlets or outlets.
    • Clean the air filter periodically.
    • Do not operate with the horizontal louver in a closed position.
  • Sleep Operation: During cooling, heating, or AUTO operation, the unit automatically adjusts the temperature by 1°C/2°F per hour for the first 2 hours, then maintains it for 5 hours before switching off. This mode saves energy and enhances comfort.
  • Auto-restart Function: For units with this feature, after a power failure, the unit automatically restarts with all previous settings preserved. For units without, the OPERATION indicator flashes, and the ON/OFF button on the remote controller must be pressed to restart.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning the Grille, Case, and Remote Controller: Turn off the system and disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid bleach, abrasives, chemically treated cloths, benzine, thinner, polishing powder, or water hotter than 40°C/104°F to prevent damage or discoloration.
  • Cleaning the Air Filter: A clogged air filter reduces cooling efficiency. Clean the filter every two weeks.
    1. Lift the indoor unit panel until it clicks (use suspension bars for 24K Btu models).
    2. Hold the air filter handle, lift slightly, and pull downwards to remove.
    3. Clean the air filter with a vacuum cleaner or water, then dry it in a cool place.
  • Air Freshening Filter (on some models): Remove from its supporting frame. Clean at least once a month and replace every 4-5 months. Clean with a vacuum cleaner and dry in a cool place. Reinstall securely.
  • Long-term Idling Maintenance:
    1. Clean the indoor unit and filters.
    2. Operate the fan for about half a day to dry the unit's interior.
    3. Stop the air conditioner and disconnect power.
    4. Remove batteries from the remote controller.
    • The outdoor unit requires periodic maintenance by an authorized dealer or service provider.
  • Checks Before Operation:
    • Verify wiring is intact and connected.
    • Ensure indoor unit and filters are clean.
    • Confirm air filter is installed.
    • Check for blockages at air outlet or inlet, especially after prolonged non-use.
