When automatic mode is selected, the air conditioner will automatically adjust the fan speed. Also, check if the MODE is set to "DRY". When dry operation is selected, the air conditioner also automatically changes the fan speed. The fan speed can be manually selected during "COOL", "FAN ONLY", and "HEAT" modes.
