Care must also be taken to isolate the refrigerant pipes to minimize noise transmission from
the unit the structure.
The suction line must be insulated. Tape and suspend the refrigerant lines as shown in
following figure. Do not allow tube metal-to-metal contact.
Use PVC piping as a conduit for all underground installations. Buried lines should be kept as
short as possible to minimize the buildup of liquid refrigerant in the suction line during long
periods of shutdown.
Pack a sealing material such as perma gum around refrigerant lines where they penetrate a
wall to reduce vibration and to retain some flexibility.
Vacuum
It will be necessary to evacuate the system to 350 microns or less.
If a leak is suspected, leak test with dry nitrogen to locate the leak.
