Why won't my Miele Cooktop turn on?

  If your Miele Cooktop or cooking zones cannot be switched on, it could be due to a tripped circuit breaker. Reset the circuit breaker, referring to the data plate for the correct fuse rating. Alternatively, there may be a technical fault. In this case, disconnect the appliance from the electric power supply for approximately 1 minute by tripping the relevant circuit breaker or unscrewing the fuse completely, or by tripping the ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). If the cooktop still does not switch on after resetting or replacing the fuse or the GFCI, contact a qualified electrician or Miele Customer Service.

  If a cooking zone or the whole Miele cooktop switches off automatically, it could be due to a cooking zone having been in use for too long, or the overheat protection being triggered. If a cooking zone has been in use for too long, you can use it again by switching it back on. Refer to the 'Safety switch-off' section. If the overheat protection was triggered, see the 'Overheat protection' section.

  If the sensors on your Miele cooktop are over-sensitive or do not react at all, it could be due to a change in the sensitivity level of the sensors. Ensure that the cooktop is not in direct sunlight or strong artificial light, and that the area around the cooktop is not too dark. Also, make sure that neither the cooktop nor the sensors are covered. Remove any cookware and clean the cooktop, removing any food residues. Interrupt the power supply to the cooktop for approximately 1 minute. If the problem persists, please call Miele Customer Service.
