Proxy server
Proxy server
Properties:
- Central access points to the Internet
- Suitable for large user groups
- Cache memory: data that is used frequently can be saved on the proxy server; the data
is cached. This reduces the amount of data transferred.
- Proxy servers are used as content filters. Unwanted or critical web content is blocked by
the proxy server. Content like this is placed on a blacklist.
This filter works in both directions. If a user calls up a prohibited page, the proxy server
will block the request. If unwanted adverts try to reach the user, the proxy server will
also block these.
