Overview

The Millenium DM-30 E-Drum Monitor is a dedicated amplification and monitoring solution designed for electronic drum kits and other playback devices. This user manual provides essential information for safe operation, installation, and maintenance of the device.

Function Description:

The DM-30 serves as a compact, two-way coaxial monitor specifically tailored for e-drums. It is designed to amplify, mix, and play back signals from an e-drum module, providing a clear and balanced sound for the drummer. Additionally, it features an auxiliary input, allowing for the connection of external playback devices such as MP3 players or for integrating a monitor mix from a band setup. The monitor offers independent volume controls for both the e-drum and auxiliary channels, enabling precise mixing of the sound sources. Tone controls for bass, mids, and treble allow users to shape the sound to their preference or to suit different acoustic environments. A standby function is integrated to conserve energy, automatically switching the device to standby mode if no signal is received for 20 minutes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Ambient Conditions:
    • Temperature range: 0 °C...40 °C
    • Relative humidity: 20%...80% (non-condensing)

Usage Features:

The DM-30 is designed for straightforward operation.

  • Inputs: It features dedicated 1/4" jack inputs for the left and right outputs of an e-drum module, labeled [DRUM IN L, R]. An additional 1/4" jack input, [AUX IN], allows for connecting other audio sources like mixers or MP3 players.
  • Volume Controls: Separate rotary controls, [DRUM VOLUME] and [AUX VOLUME], provide independent level adjustment for the e-drum and auxiliary channels, allowing users to balance the mix.
  • Tone Controls: Three rotary controls ([BASS], [MIDDLE], [TREBLE]) enable users to adjust the low, mid, and high frequencies of the overall sound, offering flexibility to tailor the sound to personal preference or room acoustics.
  • Power Management: The [POWER] button serves as the main switch. Pressing and holding it for a few seconds turns the device on or off. A power indicator LED lights up when the device is operational. The integrated standby function automatically activates if no signal is detected for 20 minutes, reducing power consumption. The device can be reactivated from standby by pressing the [POWER] button.
  • Portability: With its black textured paint finish and compact dimensions, the DM-30 is designed to be robust and relatively easy to transport for practice or small gigs.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care: The device is intended for indoor use only. To prevent damage, it should not be exposed to liquids, moisture, direct sunlight, heavy dirt, or strong vibrations. Operating the device within the specified ambient conditions (temperature and humidity) is crucial for its longevity.
  • Temperature Acclimatization: After transport, especially in varying outside temperatures, it is recommended to allow the device to acclimatize to room temperature before switching it on to prevent condensation and potential damage.
  • Cleaning: Dust and dirt accumulation inside the unit can lead to overheating and malfunction. Regular maintenance by qualified service personnel is advised if the device is operated in harmful ambient conditions (e.g., with high dust, smoke, nicotine, or fog).
  • Power Cable: Always use the provided, properly insulated mains cabling with a protective contact plug. Modifying the mains cable or plug is strictly prohibited due to the risk of electric shock or fire. The device should be unplugged during electrical storms or when unused for extended periods.
  • Fuse Replacement: The device includes an IEC chassis plug C14 with a fuse holder. The fuse specification is 5 mm × 20 mm, 1 A, 250V, slow-blow. When replacing the fuse, it is crucial to disconnect the power and use only a 250-volt fuse of the specified type.
  • Magnetic Fields: As loudspeakers produce a static magnetic field, an appropriate distance should be maintained from devices that could be adversely affected or damaged by external magnetic fields.
  • Surface Protection: The plasticizer in the rubber feet may react with certain surface coatings, potentially causing permanent dark stains over time. Using suitable underlays, such as felt pads, is recommended to protect surfaces.
  • Disposal: The DM-30 is subject to the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE). It should not be disposed of with normal household waste but through an approved waste disposal firm or local waste facility, adhering to country-specific rules and regulations. Packaging materials are environmentally friendly and should be recycled according to local guidelines.
