For safety and for optimum performance, the vent hood must be installed at a minimum of 28”
above an electric cooking surface and a minimum of 30” above a gas cooking surface (if the
instructions for installatio n of the gas hob specify a greater distance, this has to
be tak en into
account).
The exhaust air must not be discharged in to a chimney whichis used for exhausting fumes from
otherappliancesthatburngasorotherfuels.
Determinetheexactlocationoftheventhood.Markthe
location.Findthecenterlineofthecooktop.Usealevel
todrawaverticalstraightpencillineonthewall.
Plantherouteforventingexhausttotheoutdoors.Usethe
shortest and straightest duct route possible. Make sure
the
firstductrunsisatleast12’’beforeredirecting.Longduct
runs,elbowsandtransitionswillreducetheperformanceof
thehood.Useasfewofthemaspossible.Largerducting
mayberequiredforlongerductruns.
Installawallcapwithdamperorroofcapattheexterior
opening/wall.Jointhewallorroofcaptotheductwork.
Connectroundmetalductworktocapandworkbacktowards
thehoodlocation.Use2"metalfoilducttapetosealthejoints.

Ahoodmountedtoolowcouldresultinheatdamageandfirehazard,
whileahoodmountedtoohighwillbehardtoreachandwillloseits
performanceefficiency.
