When the accelerator pedal is depressed
slowly while all of the following conditions
are met, the Electric parking brake is auto-
matically released.
The Hybrid EV System is operating.
The select position is in the “D” (DRIVE)
or “R” (REVERSE) position.
The driver’s seat belt is fastened.
When the Electric parking brake is released,
the parking brake indicator display and the
indicator lamp on the Electric parking brake
switch go off.
Before driving, be sure that the parking brake
is released and the parking brake indicator
display and the indicator lamp on the Electric
parking brake switch are off.
If the Electric parking brake switch is repeat-
edly operated in a short time, the following
warning display will appear in the instrument
cluster and the Electric parking brake will
temporarily stop working. In such case, wait
until the warning display disappears, and
operate the Electric parking brake switch
again.
Depending on the situation, the Electric
parking brake may be applied automatically.
Refer to “Brake auto hold” on page 6-28.
To release
Manual operation
1. Make sure that the operation mode of
the power switch is in ON.
2. Press down the Electric parking brake
switch while depressing the brake pedal.
Automatic operation
After the Electric parking brake switch has
been operated to apply or release the Electric
parking brake, if the parking brake indicator
display and the indicator lamp on the Elec-
tric parking brake switch remain blinking or
the Electric parking brake warning lamp
remain illuminated, the Electric parking
brake system may be malfunctioning and the
parking brake may not be applied or
released. Immediately park your vehicle in a
safe place and contact an authorised
MITSUBISHI MOTORS dealer.
If a vehicle is driven without releasing the
Electric parking brake, the brake will be
overheat, resulting in ineffective braking and
possible brake failure.
If the parking brake indicator display does
not go off after the parking brake has been
released, the brake system may be malfunc-
tioning.
