  If you're experiencing an uneven heart rate while using your Monark Exercise Bike, it might be due to disturbances in the room. Try using an external unit, like a pulse watch, to see if it also indicates an irregular pulse. If so, magnetic fields from high voltage cables, elevators, or fluorescent tubes could be the cause. Ensure other electronic equipment isn't too close. If the irregular pulse persists, measure your heart rate manually. If it remains irregular even then, it's recommended that the test person's health be examined.

  If you're not getting a heart rate reading on your Monark Exercise Bike, there are several things to check: * Ensure the chest belt has a good battery. * Wet your thumbs and place them on the electrodes. You should hear a low clicking sound near the battery lid as you click on the electrodes with one thumb. * Use another external heart rate monitor to test the belt. * Make sure the chest belt is positioned correctly and tight enough. * Ensure the electrodes are wet; if needed, use a contact gel or a mixture of water with a few drops of washing-up liquid. * Keep in mind that heart rate signal levels can vary from person to person. * Try the chest belt on another person known to have a good pulse reading.
