Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Monessen Hearth 3000 Indoor Fireplace after following the instructions?
    • M
      Misty MartinezJul 29, 2025
Several factors can prevent the pilot light from staying lit. One potential cause is a defective thermocouple. Ensure the flame properly touches the thermocouple, and try cleaning or adjusting the pilot for better flame contact. Also, check that the thermocouple connection at the gas valve is fully inserted and tight. To test the thermocouple, disconnect it from the valve, use a millivolt meter to measure the output while holding the valve knob in. If the reading is less than 15 mV, the pilot assembly should be replaced. Another possible cause is a defective valve. If the thermocouple produces more than 15 mV, consider replacing the faulty valve.

What to do if the spark ignitor won't light the pilot on my Monessen Hearth 3000 Indoor Fireplace?
    • B
      Brittany WigginsAug 14, 2025
If the spark ignitor isn't lighting the pilot, there are several things to check. First, open the door and make sure the wire is connected to the ignitor. If the wire is connected, check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark, and the electrode wire is properly connected, the pilot assembly may need to be replaced. Also, make sure that there is gas and that the gas pressure is adequate. Inspect the remote/manual shut-off valve from the fireplace. Bent or restricted lines can cause low pressure; consult a plumber or gas supplier if needed. Finally, if you are using Propane/LPG, check the tank and refill it if necessary.
