Monogram B-29 Superfortress - User Manual

On August 6, 1945 a single modified B-29 took off on a
historic bombing mission that would change the world forever.
It was carrying the first atomic bomb to be used for its
intended purpose. It was dropped on the city of Hiroshima
and lead to the end of World War II. This couldn’t have been
done without the development of the B-29 bomber. It featured
major advances in payload capacity and flight performance.
In all nearly 4,000 B-29 Superfortress bombers were built during
and after World War II. With the liberation of the Marianas Island,
the B-29s could reach the Japanese mainland. But it wasn’t until
the dropping of the atomic bomb that the Japanese were willing
to surrender. The first B-29 to drop the bomb, the “Enola Gay”,
was specially modified for the mission. The aircraft had all the
external armament removed to lighten it and special engines
fitted for improved cruising speed and mechanical reliability.

* Study the assembly drawings.
* Each plastic part is identified by a number.
* In the assembly drawings, some parts will
be marked by a star

to indicate chrome
plated plastic.
* For better paint and decal adhesion,
wash the plastic parts in a mild detergent
solution. Rinse and let air dry.
* Check the fit of each piece before
cementing in place.
* Use only cement for polystyrene plastic.
* Scrape plating and paint from areas to
be cemented.
* Allow paint to dry thoroughly before
handling parts.
* Any unused parts may be discarded.
