Usage Features:

The Monolith 7X offers flexible connectivity and control options:

  • Inputs: Features both RCA and XLR line-level inputs for each of the seven channels, allowing connection to a dedicated preamplifier or AV receiver. An Input Select switch enables users to choose between RCA and XLR inputs.
  • Outputs: Equipped with gold-plated 5-way binding posts for connecting speakers, ensuring secure and high-quality connections.
  • Remote Power-On Trigger: A 3.5mm TS jack allows for connection to a source device's trigger output. The amplifier powers on when a voltage (3.3 to 24 VDC) is detected and enters standby mode when the signal is removed. This feature requires the Master Power switch on the rear panel to be ON and the front panel Power switch to be in the Standby position.
  • Master Power Switch: Located on the rear panel, this switch applies or removes main power to the amplifier and also functions as a circuit breaker.
  • Front Panel Power Switch: Controls the amplifier's state between standby mode and full power on.
  • Ground (GND) Terminal: A chassis ground terminal is provided to help resolve hum issues that may arise from interconnected components.

  • Speaker Wire Recommendations: For optimal performance, it is recommended to use at least 14AWG wire, preferably 12AWG or 10AWG, for speaker connections. Speaker wires should be of equal length for stereo pairs and identified for correct polarity (+/red and -/black). Excess wire should be snaked, not coiled, to prevent interference.
  • Cable Preparation: Users should ensure that any cables run through walls, floors, or air ducts are appropriately rated (In-Wall, Riser, or Plenum) for safety and compliance.
  • Installation Sequence: For safe operation and to prevent damage to speakers, it is recommended to power on the amplifier last and power it off first when operating the audio system. The amplifier's power button LED blinks during startup and illuminates steadily when ready for operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Protection Circuitry: Each channel incorporates an optically coupled protection circuit that cuts off audio output if a short circuit is detected on the speaker wires. The circuit automatically resets once the short is resolved.
  • Main Circuit Breaker: The Master Power switch on the rear panel serves as a circuit breaker. If it trips, users can attempt to reset it. Persistent tripping indicates a need for professional service.
