53-30-00 - FIREWALL
The firewall is .016 stainless steel (Figure 53- 4), at-
tached to forward, 4130 tubular steel structure. Fiber-
glass insulation and vinyl are placed between firewall
and cabin interior to restrict engine compartment heat
and noise. All engine compartment/cabin access holes
are sealed tight to prevent fire and smoke in cabin. Ref-
erence Section 71- 30- 00 for sealing procedures.
53-40-00 - TAILCONE STRUCTURE
The tailcone is of semi- monocoque construction. The
internal structure is shown on (Figure 53- 4).
The forward cabin structure (1) is bolted to tailcone with
eight structural bolts (8). The tailcone skin (2) is an inte-
gral load bearing portion of tailcone assembly. The
avionics equipment shelf (3) spans tailcone width to
provide rigidity and space for avionics components.
The batteries are located in this area also at (5) on both
sides of tailcone. The hat rack shelf (4) provides rigidity
as well as storage space.
The empennage attach points (6) are attached to rear
bulkhead (7) with tabs extended forward and attached
to tailcone structure.
