Overview

The Morse Model 15 Can Tipper is a specialized piece of drum handling equipment designed for safely and efficiently pouring the contents of 5-gallon cans. It is specifically engineered to handle cans weighing up to 75 Lb., making it suitable for various industrial and commercial applications where controlled pouring of liquids from such containers is required. The device's primary function is to provide a stable and controlled mechanism for tilting and emptying 5-gallon cans, minimizing spills and ensuring operator safety.

Function Description:

The Can Tipper operates by securely holding a 5-gallon can within a can holder assembly. This assembly is designed to pivot, allowing the operator to tilt the can and pour its contents with precision. The device features a base assembly that provides stability during operation, preventing accidental tipping or movement. A center brace further enhances the structural integrity of the unit. The can holder includes a catch mechanism to secure the can in place, ensuring it remains stable during the pouring process. The design emphasizes ease of use and safety, allowing for controlled pouring without the need for manual lifting and tilting of heavy cans, which can lead to strain or injury.

  • Secure Can Holding: The can holder assembly, along with its catch mechanism and thumb screw, ensures that the 5-gallon can is firmly secured before and during the pouring operation, preventing accidental dislodgement.
  • Controlled Pouring: The pivoting design of the can holder allows for precise control over the tilt angle, enabling operators to pour liquids at a desired rate and minimize splashing or spills.
  • Ergonomic Design: By eliminating the need to manually lift and tilt heavy cans, the Can Tipper reduces the risk of back injuries and muscle strain, promoting a safer working environment.
  • Portability: While not explicitly stated as portable, the compact design suggests it can be easily moved within a workspace, though specific weight is not provided.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several critical safety points:
    • Weight Capacity: Strict adherence to the 75 Lb. weight limit is crucial to prevent equipment damage and ensure safety.

    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety shoes, work gloves, and hard hats are recommended.
    • No Modifications: Unauthorized modifications are strictly prohibited as they can void the warranty and lead to injury or damage.
    • Loose Clothing: Operators must avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing that could get caught in moving parts.
    • Secure Footing: Maintaining secure footing and a firm hold during operation is essential.
    • Good Judgment: Always use care and good judgment when operating or maintaining the Can Tipper.

Maintenance Features:

  • Periodic Inspection: Regular inspection of all moving parts, framework, and contact areas is recommended to check for signs of wear, fatigue, or loosening. This proactive approach helps identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure or safety hazards.
  • Lubrication: The manual specifically advises applying a few drops of oil to the pivot bolts during assembly and reapplying periodically to minimize wear and ensure smooth operation of the pivoting mechanism.
  • Damage Reporting: Upon receiving the product, a thorough inspection for visible and concealed damage is critical. Any damage must be immediately reported to the shipping company and documented, ideally with a digital camera, and noted on the Bill of Lading. Morse Manufacturing will not be responsible for damaged freight not signed for as damaged.
  • Warranty: The equipment comes with a Limited 2-Year Warranty covering defects in workmanship or materials when used properly within its rated capacity. This warranty does not cover normal wear, accident, or abuse. Motors and other purchased parts are covered by their respective manufacturers' warranties. For warranty claims, customers must contact their Morse Dealer to obtain a return authorization number, and return freight must be prepaid.
  • Repair and Modification Policy: Liability is limited to the purchase price or repair/replacement of the product. Customers assume liability for any modifications, unauthorized repairs, or parts substitution, reinforcing the importance of adhering to the manufacturer's design and specifications.

In summary, the Morse Model 15 Can Tipper is a robust and safety-conscious device designed to streamline the process of pouring from 5-gallon cans, offering a reliable solution for controlled dispensing in various industrial settings. Its emphasis on safety, clear operational guidelines, and straightforward maintenance procedures make it a practical tool for handling heavy liquids.
