Overview

The Moultrie Ranch Series Auger Feeder Kit is designed to provide a reliable and efficient feeding solution for wildlife, particularly when paired with the Moultrie Ranch Series 450lb Hopper. This system allows for automated feed dispensing, with customizable schedules and durations, ensuring consistent feeding patterns.

Function Description:

The core function of the Auger Feeder Kit is to dispense feed from a hopper using an auger mechanism. It integrates with a timer system that allows users to program specific feed times, durations, and motor speeds. The feeder is powered by a 12V battery, and it can be optionally connected to a solar panel for continuous charging. The system is designed for outdoor use, with robust construction to withstand various environmental conditions.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Hardware: The kit includes various M6 and M8 bolts, hex nuts, and flat washers for assembly.
    • Bolt M6 x 1 x 18 (Qty. 7)
    • Hex Nut M6 x 1 (Qty. 7)
    • Flat Washer M6 (Qty. 8)
  • Power: Requires a 12V 7ah rechargeable battery (Moultrie MCA-13093 recommended).
  • Timer: Capable of programming up to 10 feed times, each lasting from 1 to 60 seconds. Each feed time can be toggled ON/OFF for specific days of the week.
  • Motor Speed: Adjustable motor speed settings.
  • Feed Chute: Adjustable angle for the feed chute.
  • Hopper Capacity (when paired with 450lb Hopper): 450 lbs.
  • Hopper Hardware (for 450lb Hopper assembly):
    • Short M6 Bolt M6 x 1 x 14 (Qty. 20)
    • M6 Lock Nut M6 x 1 (Qty. 20)

    • Long M8 Bolt M8 x 1.25 x 60 (Qty. 8)

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The kit requires assembly of the auger feeder unit, feed chute, and battery installation. When paired with the 450lb Hopper, it also involves assembling the hopper panels, cone, leg brackets, and legs.
    • Auger Feeder Kit Assembly: Involves mounting the auger kit to the hopper using M6 bolts, washers, and hex nuts. The access door is removable for maintenance and reinstalled by sliding it vertically.
    • Feed Chute Installation: The feed chute attaches to the bottom of the auger kit with bolts and hand-tight hex nuts. Its angle can be adjusted and secured.
    • Battery Installation: A 12V battery is connected to the feeder's red (positive) and black (negative) cables. It's crucial to ensure correct polarity and secure connections with rubber protectors to prevent short circuits. The battery is inserted into a dedicated compartment.
    • Hopper Assembly (for 450lb Hopper): Involves attaching side panels, face panels, and the cone using M6 bolts and lock nuts. Leg brackets are installed with M8 bolts and lock nuts, and the legs are inserted into these brackets. The legs can be set at 0 or 15 degrees (15 degrees recommended).
    • Internal Funnel Installation: After the feeder kit is installed on the hopper, an internal funnel is inserted into the hopper cone, ensuring it's fully seated for proper feeder operation.
    • Lid Assembly: Lid tabs are attached to the lid with M6 bolts and lock nuts, allowing for locking the feeder lid. The lid assembly is then placed on top of the feeder.
  • Programming the Feeder:
    • Current Time and Day: Users can set the current time (hour and minutes) and day of the week using the PROGRAM, UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT buttons.
    • Estimated Feed Remaining: Allows users to input the amount of feed in the feeder.
    • Feed Time Settings: Up to 10 feed times can be programmed, each with a specific hour, minute, and duration (1-60 seconds). Factory settings include 7 am and 6 pm for 6 seconds.
    • Days of the Week: For each feed time, users can enable or disable specific days of the week.
    • Run Duration: Adjustable feed duration in seconds.
    • Motor Speed: Adjustable motor speed setting.
  • Testing: A TEST button allows users to perform a test run, with adjustable test duration and motor speed, after a 5-second countdown.
  • Solar Panel Option: The kit supports optional solar panel mounts for continuous battery charging. When attaching a solar panel, battery tabs should point upwards; otherwise, they point downwards.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty: A 1-year warranty is available upon activation online at http://www.moultriefeeders.com/warranty.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides contact information for the service department and a website for support (www.moultriefeeders.com/support).
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with FCC rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts received interference. Guidelines are provided for resolving potential interference issues, such as reorienting antennas or increasing separation from other devices.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Battery Polarity: Crucial to avoid reverse polarity when connecting the battery.
    • Short Circuits: Prevent battery leads from contacting each other or the feeder kit's side to avoid personal injury or property damage.
    • Over-tightening: Avoid over-tightening screws during assembly to prevent stripping threads.
    • Internal Funnel Alignment: Ensure the internal funnel is fully seated for proper feeder operation.
