APPENDIX.2. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which tripods can the rotator be connected to?
A: As long as the tripod with 1/4 or 3/8 screws, most of them are supported on the market.
Q: Which brands of cameras does the rotator support?
A: Supports all cameras on the market with hot shoe or shutter release port.
Q: Why should we synchronize the rotator with the camera?
A: Because the shooting needs to be still, it can only rotate after the shooting. Especially when
shooting the night scene, the rotation will case trails when shooting.
Most rotators on the market can't be set to stop rotating when shooting, which is very unfavorable
for shooting. There are even wind-ups, the speed of rotation is inconsistent, the speed is fast when
the spring is tight, and the speed will be slower and slower toward the end.
Q: How do I set the camera's exposure parameters on the rotator? (Especially refers to the
exposure time and interval time)
A: The rotator works in 3 manners.
● For star tracking, All the exposure parameters should be set on the camera. There is no
need for any connection.
● Rotator controls camera mode: For time-lapse and panoramic stitching, exposure time and
interval time should be set on the App, All other parameters set on your camera.
● Camera controls the rotator mode: All exposure parameters are set on the camera, no need
set parameters on the App. After each photo is taken, a command will be sent to the rotator
to rotate. This will be compatible with all SLR, micro-single, card machine, and other hot-
shoes cameras, and work better with Sony's built-in time-lapse photography app.
This mode now supports Canon, Nikon, Sony.
Q: How do I sync the rotator with the slider?
A: The rotator can be synchronized with any slide rail, except the sliders that cannot support move
shoot move mode. There is no need to set extra parameters on the slider, because the rotator is
synchronized with the camera, and the rotator will not rotate until the camera finished one shot.
Q: How long is the battery life of the built-in lithium battery?
A: The rotator is structured with the worm gear. It has the characteristics of self-locking. It only
consumes electricity when it is rotated. The power consumption during stationary is very small, so
the battery life should be judged according to the number of shots.
9600 photos can be taken at the current test. The other rotators, which uses gear or stepper motor
solutions on the market, does not have the self-locking capability, it needs to consume power as
