Usng the SMART Dsk Feature
S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self‐Montorng, Analyss, and Reportng Technology. It s a dsk
drve feature that allows software to montor degradatons n dsk drve spec󰘰catons.
Usng ths technology, NVIDIA MedaSheld lets you montor the health of dsk drves
n a RAID array and alerts you when certan degradatons ndcate an mpendng hard-
ware falure, gvng you tme to back up data and replace the drve. When you clck on
an array dsk from the Vew Storage Con󰘰guraton page, the SMART status appears,
ndcatng whether (as of the last pollng) the dsk s healthy (good) or whether there s a
problem that can result n a catastrophc falure wthn 24 hours.
To con󰘰gure SMART settngs:
Clck Con󰘰gure SMART settngs to open the assocated page.Select the Enable
SMART montorng rado button.

If you want to track the test results, check the Record events n the system log
check box.
Clck the Pollng nterval lst arrow and then select one of the tme optons corre

spondng to how often you want MedaSheld to run the SMART test.
Clck Apply when done.
