2. Chargebatteryfor 8 to 10hoursbeforeinitialuse.Do
not charge longer than 12hours. The batteryshould
be chargedatthebeginningandendof the season
andafterany otherextendedperiodsof non-use.
3. Aftercharging,disconnectbatterychargerplugfrom
householdoutletfirst,then disconnectchargerlead
frombatterypacklead.

Replacing Fuse (if Equipped)
Theelectricstartercircuitand batteryare protectedby a
40 amperefuse.Ifthefuseburnsout,the electricstarter
willnotoperate.Ifthe unitfailsto startwiththe electric
starter,performthefollowingstepstocheckthefuse
insidethebatteryhousing:
1. Openthe batterycoveras describedin Replacing
Battery.See Figure5-6.
2. Removefusefromsocketandinspectas shownin
Figure5-9.If itisburnedout, replacewithstandard
automotive40amperefuse.
3. Carefullyplacewiringbackintohousing,closebattery
cover,andfoldupperhandlebackintoplace.
NOTE:Theenginecanbestartedmanuallyif the fuse
burnsout.

Off-Season Storage
Thefollowingstepsshouldbetakento prepareyour
lawnmowerforstorage.
1. Cleanandlubricatemowerthoroughlyas described
inthe lubricationinstructions.
2. Wedo notrecommendtheuseofa pressurewasher
orgardenhoseto cleanyourunit.
3. Refertoenginemanualforcorrectengine
storageinstructions.
4. Coatmower'scuttingbladewithchassisgreaseto
preventrusting.
5. Storemowerina dry,cleanarea.Donotstorenext
tocorrosivematerials,suchas fertilizer.
Whenstoringanytypeof powerequipmentin a poorly
ventilatedor metalstorageshed,careshouldbetaken
torust-prooftheequipment.Usinga lightoil or silicone,
coattheequipment,especiallycables,andall moving
partsof yourlawnmowerbeforestorage.
Battery (if Equipped)
Thebatterymust bestoredwitha fullcharge.Extended
storageofa dischargedbatterywill reducelifeand
capacityofthebattery.
