Movethedecklift leverintothe top notchto raisethe
decklift armsupand outoftheway.
Gentlyslidethecuttingdecktowardthe frontof the
tractorallowingthehooksonthedeckto release
themselvesfromthedeck stabilizerrod.
10.Gentlyslidethecuttingdeck(fromthe rightside)out
fromunderneaththetractor.
11.Pullthe decksupportpinoutwardtoreleasethedeck
fromthedecklift arm.
12.Rotatethe pin slightlytowardthe rearofthe tractor
andreleasethe pin intothe holeprovided.
13.Repeattheabovestepsonthetractor'srightside.
IMPORTANT:Whenchargingyourtractor'sbattery,use
onlya chargerdesignedfor 12Vlead-acidbatteries.Read
yourbatterycharger'sOwner'sManualpriorto charging
yourtractor'sbattery.Alwaysfollowitsinstructionsand
heeditswarnings.
If yourtractorhasnotbeenputinto usefor an extended
periodoftime,chargethebatteryas follows:
• Setyour batterychargertodelivera maximumof 10
amperes.Ifyour batterychargeris automatic,charge
thebatteryuntilthechargerindicatesthatchargingis
complete.
NOTE:Ifthe chargeris notautomatic,chargefor no fewer
thaneighthours.
14.Movethedecklift leverintothetopnotchonthe right
fenderto raisedeckliftarmsupandoutoftheway.
15.Gentlyslidethecuttingdecktowardthefrontof the
tractorallowingthehooksonthedeckto release
themselvesfromthedeck stabilizerrod.
16.Gentlyslidethecuttingdeck(fromthe rightside)out
fromunderneaththetractor.

overinflate.Uneventirepressurecouldcausethecutting
deckto mowunevenly.
Battery
Thebatteryis sealedandismaintenance-free.Acid
levelscannotbechecked.
Alwayskeepthebatterycablesandterminalsclean
andfreeof corrosivebuild-up.
Aftercleaningthebatteryandterminals,applya light
coatof petroleumjelly or greaseto bothterminals.
Alwayskeeptherubberboot positionedoverthe
positiveterminaltopreventshorting.
1. Connectendofonejumpercableto the positive
terminalofthegoodbattery,thenthe otherendtothe
positiveterminalofthe deadbattery.
2. Connectthe otherjumpercable to the negative
terminalofthegoodbattery,thento the frame of the
unit with the dead battery.
_1 WARNING:Failure to use this procedure
could cause sparking, and thegas in either
battery could explode.
Cleaning
Cleanthebatteryby removingit fromthe tractorand
washingwitha bakingsodaandwatersolution.If neces-
sary,scrapethebatteryterminalswitha wirebrushto
removedeposits.Coatterminalsandexposedwiringwith
greaseor petroleumjellyto preventcorrosion.
Battery Failures
IMPORTANT:Ifremovingthe batteryfor anyreason,
disconnecttheNEGATIVE(Black)wirefromit'sterminal
first,followedby the POSITIVE(Red)wire.When
re-installingthebattery,alwaysconnectthePOSITIVE
(Red)wireitsterminalfirst,followedbytheNEGATIVE
(Black)wire.Becertainthatthewiresareconnectedto
thecorrectterminals;reversingthemcouldchangethe
polarityandresultindamageto your engine'salternat-
ingsystem.
Somecommoncausesfor batteryfailureare:
• incorrectinitialactivation • undercharging
• overcharging • corrodedconnections
• freezing
NOTE:ThesefailuresareNOTcoveredbyyour tractor's
warranty.
