SAFETY
INTERLOCK
SYSTEM
Interlock
safety
switches
are
located
on
the
clutch-brake
pedal,
the
blade
engagement
lever
and
shift
lever.
Before
the
engine
wili
start,
the
clutch
pedal
must
be
depressed
all
the
way
and
the
blade
engage¬
ment
lever
must
be
in
the
disengaged
position.
Before
the
unit
can
be
shifted
into
revers>j,
the
blade
engagement
lever
must
be
in
the
disen¬
gaged
position.
RECOIL
STARTER
HANDLE
The
recoil
starter
handle
is
located
on
the
le
t
rear
side
of
rider.
The
recoil
starter
handle
can
be
pulled
while
standing
by
the
left
rear
side
o
unit.
The
ignition
key
must
be
on
before
the
engir
e
will
start.
After
the
engine
starts,
the
recoil
starter
handle
must
be
returned
and
locked
into
th(
rope
handle
bracket
before
the
blade
or
clutch
is
engaged.
The
engine
will
stop
if
these
instruc¬
tions
are
not
followed.

OPERATION

CAUTION
Keep
all
shields
in
place.
Before
leaving
operator’s
position:
a.
Shift
transmission
to
neutral
b.
Set
parking
brake
c.
Disengage
attachment
clutch
d.
Shut
off
engine
e.
Remove
ignition
key
Wait
for
all
movement
to
stop
before
servicing
machine.
Keep
people
and
pets
a
safe
distance
away
from
machine.

to
the
rear
before
backing
up.

CAUTION
DO

PROPER
PLACE.
This
unit
is
equipped
with
a
safety
interlock
system
for
your
protec¬
tion.
The
purpose
of
the
safety
inter¬
lock
system
is
to
prevent
the
engine
from
cranking
or
starting
unless
the
clutch-brake
pedal
is
depressed
and
the
blade
engagement
lever
is
in
the
disengaged
position.
In
addi¬
tion,
the
blade
engagement
lever
must
be
in
the
disengaged
position
when
the
unit
is
put
into
reverse
or
the
engine
will
shut
off.

not
operate
the
rider
if
the
interlock
system
is
malfunctioning
because
it
is
a
safety
device,
